If you like the Austrian Alps, you'll feel at home in Cerler. One of the best routes for begginers (Rovellons), easy-intermediate pistes all around the resort and incredible backcountry areas for experts. Enchanted villages from s.XV like Benasque, Cerler, Sahún, Sesué... and great spanish gastro and nightlife. The only cons: Some winters the resort is short of snow (but not a really problem, because Cerler has the biggest snow-producing system in Spain) and the access to the Valley by car (a narrow road but with a wonderful panorama). I hardly recommend Cerler. Together with Baqueira Beret (at 90min by car), there is probably the best ski-week destination of the Pyrenees (including Andorra).
Scenary, people...
Some winters the snow is not abundant

Has a slope for Debutantes Beginners. But uses a J Bar ski lift. Which is a nightmare for Debutantes Beginners. Especially Snow Boarders. Used by Ski School instructors and some have no patience with Debutantes (Beginners). Hardly give you a moment to get out of the way, if you fall over (One guy, Luis, was really rude). One lady ski lift operator was excellent, but other male ski lift operators had no sympathy and wouldn't help at all. Which makes a visit a costly and painful waste, as a dozen times falling off the lift, puts many off. Place has One bar, one restaurant (lovely people) and one supermarket!
Nice scenery
Bad for Debutantes Beginners
Cerler is a very nice place to go in Spain. I learned there when I was a child and I go there everytime I can, but no as frecuantly as I would like. The snow in Cerler is quite good but the best is the backcountry, you can climb the Aneto peak, the highest in the Spanish Pirenees, and enjoy the best mountain in Spain. If you are also looking for having a good time at night I can tell you that Benasque is the best place in the Pirenees (not only in Spanish', also in French's) to go out in the night. But if you are going to go with your family you will find a lot of things to do with your children. I think it's a recommendable place to visit.
One of Spain’s four largest ski areas, Cerler’s ski area size comes as a surprise to many, with a 3,700 foot vertical and 45 miles of runs for all standards, served by 18 lifts. There are great views of the Aneto glacier. The area is known as “the lost valley” and that translates to empty slopes and no lift lines outside peak periods. The varied terrain has something for everyone, including tree skiing, some excellent back country routes, high service standards from the staff (not always a given in Europe). The snow tends to come down from the Northeast, but beware if gales drive it in, or follow on afterwards as the slopes can be windswept. On the other hand, this is the highest resort in the region , so snow conditions are often the best to be found. There’s good apres at the Ciria and Parrilla restaurants which continues in the evenings down at Benasque where the Agente Naranja is a popular disco.
