absolutely great resort (skiwelt). soll is a great base with beautiful hotels and lively traditional and tourist pubs. great snow making for lower runs if needs be but been a few times and always been great conditions!
huge area for all abilities mainly confident intermediates
only two runs back to the bottom, one very tricky red and one narrow busy tricky blue!!

It hadn't snowed for two weeks and it was t-shirt weather but they managed to keep quite a few runs open and we had a rally good time. Come Sunday there was a massive dump of snow and some awesome powder skiing at the end of March. If you're going this week you'll have a great time!!
Runs open even in 19 degrees
Runs quite short at the top

I have skied from Soll many times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't go here if you want to scare yourself on difficult down hills, but if you like covering great distances and like varied, well groomed slopes and great uplifts then this is the place to be. The piste map tries to cover the whole area and therefore loses some detail, but once you find your way around you'll find it all links up well. The resort is excellent at night. "Bloodshot Eyes" perform in the hotel bars at least 3 nights a week and more recently "Frog on the Tyne" were there most other nights. This can end up with most people on table tops singing along. There is also the local disco catering for the early morning revelers. Having skied Saalbach, Sella Ronda, Sauze D'oulx, Tignes, Chamonix and Seefeld, you will not beat Soll for the overall experience. Once into March the temperature rises and the snow gets soft and slushy at lower altitudes. It is cheaper for beer and food on the hill than most other resorts and the hostelries are good. The cost of the ski pass is value for money. If you've skied Soll and enjoyed it, then try Seva or Saalbach for a change.
A vast area to ski with only the best uplift system
A low resort, warms up in March
while the beginners slope is just a flat cow field the upper slopes are great to fly down or cruise at your own pace the instructors at the ski school are good but prone to just ski and forget to teach so watch out!!. depending on the instructor you must be firm in asking to go at your own pace as my partner came so far in the week to have her nerve shaken due to the instructor giving into peer pressure and dragging the group beyond their skill level but overall the area rocks!! check out the village church its worth it ,the bars are heaving at night so go early.
Superb Place, locals friendly, excellent ski school. Stayed at Postwirt hotel in centre of town, absolutely first class in all respects (especially the food!!). This was our first ski-trip and Soll was a great place to start.
it was on a school trip; skiing fo rthe first time and i had the best week of my life. Snow conditions could have been but they cant help that!
I would not recommend this resort towards the end of the season (march). Two years ago my wife and I went to soll, the attitude of some of the 'instructors' was pretty aweful. One swedish women lost half of her 12 student class by day 2 (of a week). Her attitude to someone struggling was 'you either want to ski, or you don't' before leaving half the class in difficulty. Four people gave up by day 3, 1 person never left the nursery slopes, and 2 others binned the instructor and went off on their own. As a medium level confident skier, I took my wife of on her own, then she finally started to improve and enjoy her trip. The other resorts are accessible from soll, however beginners who are getting mobile, have to cross hard red runs to get back to easier routes. In complete cotrast the following year we went to Borovets in Bulgaria, completely different and friendly people.
We went to Söll for the first time in February 2006 for a week of skiing. When we arrived we stayed in the Tyrol Hotel, which was lovely. It was in a nice quiet location, only 10mins walk away from the ski slopes. Söll has a lovely quiet relaxing atmosphere. Its offers great skiing aswell, for Beginners up to Professionals. If anyone was looking for a nice quiet holiday but with that little buzz of excitment, I would definitly recommend them having a look into Söll as it has everything you want; Skiing, Restaurants, Shops, Pubs, Toboganning & Great Scenery! It really is a lovly place to go, I'd definitly go back there agin, infact we're heading back in about 4 weeks again it was so good!
The Hohe Salve 1.829m with the little salvenchirch at the summit, is a striking focal point of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental >Söll! Because of its open position, and impressive view across both valleys in the region as well as of the surrounding mountains of the kitzbuehler alps and the Hohe Tauern awaits you. 250km of piste and three spacious snow board parks are prepared every night using the most modern equipment. 90 lifts and more then 70 huts, restaurants and bars! I love the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental
