Snow Reporter Comments

Head to Sugarbush for the most snow and terrain in the East. We're riding into the holiday with more than 2 feet of snow this week, another 2" at the summits overnight and all 111 trails open, with predominately packed powder and powder conditions.

Our groomers rolled 54 trails overnight, get here early for the freshest corduroy. Castlerock is open via hiking access only from 10AM - 2PM, accessed via the Long Trail entrance from Paradise. This is a good way to stay warm and enjoy some soft natural snow turns.

Sugarbush Parks has outdone themselves in the the Mt. Ellen Riemergasse Park, serving up 45 fun freestyle features. You'll also find 10 beginner hits on Sugar Run and 4 more in Sugarbear Forest at Lincoln Peak.

Forecasts call for a chance of flurries and temps in the single digits, falling below zero as the day progresses. Remember to layer well, cover up exposed skin and take breaks as needed.

Snowmakers are building base depths to ensure a long season. Look for fresh gun powder on Coffee Run, Murphy's Glades, Stein's Run, and Spring Fling.

We have 14 lifts scheduled today. GMX at Mt. Ellen, Super Bravo and Heaven's Gate at Lincoln Peak open at 8 AM. All other lifts start at 9 AM. Slide Brook will be closed due to cold temps. Upper mountain lifts load until 3:45 PM, base lifts turn until 4 PM. Inverness is reserved for GMVS race training until 2:30 PM.

The full Mad Bus schedule is running daily. Because of the Monday holiday, late night service is available both Saturday and Sunday, 6 PM - 1 AM. Call 802-496-RIDE.

Ski and ride with care, thin cover exists on trail edges. See our uphill travel policy for hiking and skinning access details and get your free uphill travel pass at Guest Services before heading up the mountain.

Friday at Mount Ellen. Some of the previous day's powder left on the umgroomed trails, but especially lower on the mountain it had been scraped down to some dirt by the end if the day. Groomed trails all had perfect cover. They had a decent S/M park, and a pretty terrific M/L park, but that's out if my league. Inverness was closed for racing training and unfortunately that didn't leave enough mountain for an intermediate snowboarder to fill a day with variety. No crowds and I only saw a lift slowed once which was a nice change. Temps were 0-15 today, but two underlayers and a typical facemask was enough to keep out the cold just fine. Probably should have done Lincoln Peak for more terrain, but it was a decent day.
