    Things are tightening down in Missouri, folks, as Winter fades and Spring fast approaches. Snow Creek is in a snow conservation mode and open now only on weekends until their close - or unless the gods smile again. Their terrain park is closed.

  • Snow Creek Nearing Season End

    It hasn't been a bad season for Snow Creek, located about 30 miles north of Kansas City despite the wimpy Midwest winter. They were open when many Heartland ski areas further east across Indiana and Ohio were still closed in January, because of the unusually warm winter weather at that time. The Creek's season will be ending in just a little less than a couple of weeks.

    It has been cold in Missouri after a winter storm with punch swept through the state last week. But there hasn't been anything falling since then and local skiers and boarders are looking to a new Northern storm to bring them some fresh by the weekend.

  • Peak Resorts Moves East

    Peak Resorts, the Missouri-based company that operates six Heartland ski areas – two in Missouri, Snow Creek and Hidden Valley, Paoli Peaks in Indiana and three in Ohio, Mad River Mountain, Brandywine and Boston Mills – had often been referred to as the American Ski Company of the Midwest. Slowly they've been moving east acquiring a couple of ski areas in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, and now word comes that Peak is buying American Ski Company resorts Mount Snow in New Hampshire and Attitash in Vermont.

    It's cold in Missouri, but neither Snow Creek or Hidden Valley ski area has reported anything fresh landing on their slopes. So far, the storms which have brought so much fluffy white (or massive, heavy white if it's on your roof) have spared the Missouri areas.
