Well great week of skiing but it's TRUE Big Sky is no longer the undiscovered hill it once was. And many of the locals do not care for Ikon pass holders and are not afraid to day so.

We were there prior to the recent few inches. Hard pack, skied off powder. Larch had a lot of rock churned into a lot of the soft stuff, hard on the board base.

snowboarded at Eagle lodge today. Nice powder, but top of the lift had major gusts of wind. Took 2nd lift up to the top that was open and conditions were so bad could barely see 10 feet in front of you die ri winds. powder so deep if you fell nearly impossible to get back up again. Will wait for snow to drop before going again

Saw the question about huge base but only partially opened. The answer is avalanche risk. Tons of snow last week. Even more this week. It's wet and heavy. Also with this blizzard winds at top were over 100mph. Mid mountain was 60mph and that was even a little sketchy. most days they've opened late, and closed early on some. I get the safety emphasis, but delays are poorly posted. Still the skiing has been great, hence the 4 stars. But also agree with past below about $$$. I'm skiing on ikon pass, but I'd be a little pissed to drop $169 for a shortened day on a partially opened mountain.

Advertising says it all... It is NOT for the meek. Monday, blower - little was open. Snow was great and deep in the morning but got heavier as the day progressed. Today they opened up most of the mountain, bluebird. Snow got real heavy and baked in the sun all day. Mid gad and tiger tail were still closed. Road to provo opened about lunch. The bird is the word. More snow coming this weekend...
