Still Grinding it in Massachusetts
Massachusetts riders have a spring in their step, but winter on their mind. We're still getting a bit of both, spring and winter, and that's a good thing. The riding continues as warmer temperatures and sunshine bear down on the slopes. Catamount is still rocking the riding, with the typical report this time of year.

Mass. Spring Trapped Under Fresh Snow
We continue to ride in Massachusetts. Take Catamount. It landed 18 inches of fresh powder, guaranteeing us skiing in spring with spring conditions in the air, and winter conditions on the slopes (though not for long - spring temps are heading in). We're heading into the time of year when every day is overtime, so take advantage of it.

More Trails Means More Riding In Mass.
Massachusetts gets its winter game on hard, now that the cold has settled in, snow is paying a frequent visit and the snowmakers are punishing the terrain with ever-more snow. And since you can't spell "Massachusetts" without "Wachusett" - or parts thereof - give props to the mountain this weeked with two events: the USA Snowboard Association halfpipe and slopestyle competition all day Sunday.

Winter has taken hold of much of the Northeast and ski areas and riders are holding on to it for dear life. Finally, trail openings are slipping up in to the comfortable double digits and it feels like the real deal.

It hasn't been the same old song for downhlll riders in Massachusetts this summer. "Hot, Hot, Hot" has replaced "White Christmas" in this twisted bizarre-o world. But it's looking more positive all over the state this week as colder temperatures finally sink in.

Snow riders are eternal optimists, but winter so far here in Massachuesetts has been trying the patience of all downhillers. Ah, but with an in-your-face 'tude and millions of dollars in snowmaking machinery, Mass. ski areas are swearing by every evening drop below freezing that they can.
