Where . . . [R2271R, Passo Tonale], Italy

What . . . The Presena Glacier is in the Presanella massif at an altitude of 3025 metres. The modern Paradiso Gondola in Passo Tonale transports skiers up the mountain. From the base of the glacier, two drag lifts serve the slopes. The terrain isn't as extensive as some summer glaciers, with just three runs: a one-kilometre black; a one-kilometre red; and a 1.7-kilometre red. There is also a snowpark at 3000 metres. The glacier is closed July, August, and September, but it opens again early October. Many summer guests also use the glacier as a starting point for many trekking and mountain biking excursions in the Adamello-Presanella and Ortles-Cevedale range.
