[R1564R, Les Menuires], the first ski resort in France to have obtained the ISO 14001 environmental certification, continues to increase its sustainable practices.

This year, the TEMMOS group bought the resort's Les Bruyères hotel and will be lowering the building's waste production as well as its energy consumption.

The TEMMOS group is France's first carbon-neutral hotel chain. It has already received the Green Globe and European Ecolabel certifications and aims for all of its hotels to be Ecolabelled by the end of 2012. To achieve this goal, TEMMOS is working to reduce each hotel's electricity and water use, to cut down on greenhouse emissions, and to serve local, seasonal produce in its hotel restaurants.

This is the latest development in Les Menuire's ecological policy, which has been actively in place for three years. In that time, the resort has succeeded in regulating motorised activities within the resort, improving the resort's public transportation and car-sharing schemes, renovating buildings to lower their energy consumption, and in better adapting outdoor lighting to use the least electricity possible.

Les Menuires' lift authority, La SEVABEL, also put into place several environmentally friendly practices which allowed the resort to obtain the ISO14001 label in 2006. These policies include reusable lift passes, ecological lifts, chemical-free artificial snow, and the use of renewable energy to power some of the resort's lifts.
