[R2821R, Orcières 1850] offers a wide range of Nordic sports for non-skiers. Whether visitors want to try sledging with a pack of huskies or just explore the countryside with a snowshoe trek, Orcières offers something for everyone.

On the Rocherousse plateau, an igloo village can welcome a dozen families who want to spend a night in original accommodation. The igloo-keeper will show children how the snowy houses are built. Families who stay overnight will have the opportunity to savor the silence of nature.

Orcières offers 35 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails on the Haut-Champsaur domaine. Skiers can follow the pistes from village to village, going from Pont du Fossé to Orcières and on to Champoléon les Borels. There is also higher cross-country areas-Trois Serres at 1350 metres and Roche Rousse at 2300 metres.

Orcieres gives guests the opportunity to try their hand at mushing. The organisation Alpi-Traîneau lets clients choose from 20-minute or one-hour initiation sessions or half- and whole-day excursions, alone or with a professional musher.

Clients may also like to enjoy a snowshoe outing. With the Ecrins National Park for a backdrop, certified guides will accompany trekkers and decipher the natural environment. It is also possible to snowshoe without a guide, thanks to an abundance of signposted trails and a laminated map on sale for one euro at the tourist office.
