Ski centres across England will be forced to close again on Thursday as the country goes back into lockdown.

A second national lockdown is starting Thursday Nov. 5th. Under lockdown rules, leisure centres and gyms have to close, which unfortunately includes indoor ski centres as well as outdoor dry slopes.

Since opening in August, many skiers have enjoyed hitting the artificial slopes.

Ian Brown, Managing Director of The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead says: "Further to our governments’ announcement this evening, we will be closing our doors again from Thursday 5th November."

"If you have a booking during this period up to 2nd December, we will be in contact with you early next week. I guess none of us know what this winter and coming months holds for us all, however please be assured we will be ready to welcome you back as soon as we are able to."

Snozone in Milton Keynes and Castleford have also declared closure as well as and SnowDome Tamworth and Chill Factore in Manchester.

CEO of Snow Sports England says: "Without a doubt it will once again present huge challenges for snowsport facilities, clubs, coaches and snowsport enthusiasts, with all the struggles of this year we were all looking forward to enjoying our sport over the winter."

"The new rules also state that exercise and recreation outdoors is allowed, with your household or on your own, with one person from another household. We do not have any clarification yet on how or if this impacts on outdoor snowsport taking place."

There is some hope that a case can be made to allow outdoor dry skiing, but as things stand both indoor and outdoor snow sports will close in England on Thursday.

Snow Sports England says: "We are looking at pulling together a case to the Government that outdoor snowsport should be allowed to remain for individual recreational practice, 1-2-1 coaching, as well as sessions for same households. We know snowsport activity for children and young people is also hugely important and so we will also contend for this to continue where possible."
