Four UK tour operators have announced they will be cancellling all ski holidays this December.

Espirit, Ski Total, Inghams and Flexiski will not be running any ski trips over Christmas. This comes as a huge blow to around 2,000 skiers who had booked Christmas ski holidays.

Joe Ponte, chief executive of Hotelplan UK, which owns the ski brands, told LeicestershireLive: "Following the commencement of another lockdown and the continued uncertainty regarding travel restrictions for the remainder of 2020, we have regretfully made the extremely difficult decision to suspend all ski and Lapland holidays departing in December 2020 across our Inghams, Esprit, Ski Total and Flexiski programmes."

Hotelplan UK went on to say they are still hopeful that they'll have a ski season this winter, albeit with a later start.

The group's first holidays were scheduled to to leave the UK on Dec. 12. Customers are being offered a full refund or the opportunity to rebook later in the winter.

TUI has also confirmed it has suspended its 2020 winter holidays to Lapland. They cited, "continued uncertainty surrounding travel and the unprecedented impact of Covid-19" for this decision.

Tui said all customers impacted by the decision are currently in the process of being contacted to discuss their options, which include the opportunity to amend for next year, receive a refund credit note with a booking incentive or a full cash refund.
