[R29R, Badger Pass] in Yosemite National Park plans to open Dec. 18, just in time for the holidays. You can ski, ride, or tube at the pass while staying at Yosemite hotels that offer special lodging packages and events to launch the New Year.

The Ahwahnee hosts its elegant, black tie New Year's Eve dinner and dance gala around the theme of Classic Hollywood this year. Lodging packages include accommodations for two, two tickets to the gala, a portrait sitting, and New Year's Day brunch.

Lodging for the gala package is available for two nights at $1,518 or three nights at $1,988 at The Ahwahnee. The package is also available with lodging at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls for two nights at $994 or three nights at $1,202.

Yosemite Lodge at the Falls is offering a package with a New Year's Eve celebration. The package includes lodging and dinner for two in the Mountain Room Restaurant followed by a live band and dancing. The kids who are accompanied by an adult can celebrate New Years' Eve in the Cliff Room with games, prizes, dancing to music from a DJ, snacks, and a balloon drop at 9 p.m. The two-night package starts at $553 while the three-night package starts at $760.

The historic Wawona Hotel is also celebrating the New Year with a package that includes lodging for two, dinner dance tickets, and New Year's Day brunch in the Wawona dining room. Two-night packages start at $508, and three-night packages begin at $654.

All lodging packages are available Dec. 30-Jan. 2 with rates are based on double occupancy. Reservations are required. Lift tickets are additional at $42 per adult for a full day or $33 per adult for a half day. Tickets for children and seniors run less.
