It is gorgeous, I have skied all over the world and I must say this was wonderful, January 2015. The snow is great, reliable although can be icy when it hasn't snowed. No expert or advanced slopes though, wonderful for beginners and intermediates. The big issue is that there is no off-piste skiing in-bounds. The boundaries are not really marked and even if you are 5 meters from the piste you are in avalanche territory, not like North America so your runs are very limited.
Scenery, elevation, low crowds
Limited runs, no advanced runs, dangerous off piste (no bounds)

awesome on every level even though its not a big resort. Amazingly good freestyle parks for all abilities. Hard to beat on powder days
always plenty of variation from beginner to expert especially if there's been gresh snow. Powder heaven if there's a good snowfall
can get tiresome and boring if there's poor snow but there's always Zell am See on the same lift pass if you want a change

Skiing the Alps in November is always tricky so our group was just happy to be on the snow! Groomed runs at high elevation combined with plenty of other attractions made it a fun 3 days of skiing but I wouldn't suggest going any longer until the place gets more snow. Nearby Zell am See had so little snow it might as well have been mid-summer. Lots of T-bars at the higher elevation which is to be expected because of high winds. This is a great spot though, with lots of great little chalets nearby its definitely worth your time.
High elevation means lots of snow
Apres skiing loses to a lot of other Austrian resorts

We spent Christmas 2009 in Kaprun - staying at Hotel Kaprunerhof which was great - particularly the food. Kaprun is a relatively quiet town with a few good bars and restaurants. Plenty to keep you amused for the week. You have to get a ski bus (about 10/15mins) to get the gondola up onto the mountain but it's worth it once you're up there. We experienced pretty crazy weather - as it's so high a couple of days were very cold and visibility not great. On days like that another option is to go back to the town and go on the Maiskogel slopes - bit lower - and really pretty. The lift pass is also linked with Zell am See (regular bus ride to Zell from Kaprun) if you want more options. We would definitely go back to Kaprun - might just leave it a bit later in the season - speaking to a local he said the glacier is really at it's best in March/April.
Good Ski School, Wide open slopes, Glacier skiing
Can get really cold on glacier - minus 25 ! brrrr
You ride a 1/2 hour gondola up to the base of the ski area to start. Once up to the base of the ski area, it opens to a huge land of excitement. At the top of the glacier there is plenty of off piste and usually tons of fresh snow. Huge bar/challet at the top that is always rocking with fun-seekers from around Europe. This was the best Mt experience I have had so far. Fresh snow every day, night life like you can't believe, super friendly locals that almost all speak english. Some super quaint resorts done in traditional Austrian goodness. Highly recommended. Be aware that to get to some of the territory, they have t-lifts, which can be a pain if on a snowboard.....
Always snow, fun atmosphere and people.
Cant think of any
