Aosta Valley Ski Resorts FAQ

The Valley of Aosta offers skiers a vast range of disciplines to choose from in the best snow conditions imaginable. The high mountains are the perfect place for downhill skiing, freeriding, snowboarding, free style, cross country skiing, off trail skiing, ski mountaineering, telemark skiing, heliskiing and kite surfing. The valley has hundreds of lifts that serve over 700 km of downhill slopes and nearly 400 km of cross country trails. There are also structures for acrobatic surfing and over 1200 ski instructors. The cold temperature at high altitude guarantees powder snow and the pleasure of skiing on natural snow all season long. Nonetheless, all of the resorts have modern snowmaking capabilities. The 28 ski resorts are on the cutting edge and boast modern ski lifts, which are safe and efficient. The ski areas are very large: La Thuile, Courmayeur, Breuil-Cervinia and Monterosaski each offers more than 100 km of slopes. In addition the Valley of Aosta has 138 splendid cross country trails for a total of almost 400 km, all of which are of regulation width, well-signed, and groomed daily. Almost all of the resorts have fun parks on the snow where one or more moving walkways transport people to the top of small slopes where they can find bobsleds, sleds, bicycles with skis, inner tubes, airboards and other soft “sliding objects” to slide back down safely. The Valley of Aosta is beautiful in the winter and in the summer. During the summer months it's possible to hike, mountain bike, ride horseback, mountain climb, raft, or simply relax while admiring some of the most beautiful and fascinating mountains in the world.
