Geilo, located in Buskerud, Norway, is a well-established ski resort nestled between two national parks—Hardangervidda and Hallingskarvet. With a base elevation of 800 m and a summit reaching 1,178 m, the resort offers a vertical drop of 378 m across 342 hectares of skiable terrain. Geilo features 22 lifts and 46 pistes totalling 34.2 km, with difficulty levels distributed across beginner (30%), intermediate (33%), advanced (30%), and expert (7%) categories. The area receives an average annual snowfall of 293 cm and benefits from extensive snowmaking coverage.Families are particularly well catered for, with four dedicated children’s areas located in Vestlia, Kikut, Slaatta, and Havsdalen. These zones include magic carpets, mascots, and gentle slopes designed for young skiers. The Trollklubben childcare centre in Vestlia and the mini-skicross course at Slaatta add to the resort’s appeal for families.
