While you&rsquo;ll find energy at Chambre Neuf and La Terrasse, those in the know wind down at Elevation 1904 for its laid-back atmosphere or sip vin chaud on the heated terrace at MBC, Chamonix&rsquo;s own microbrewery. And if you fancy a proper local experience, head to Les Planards for night sledging &ndash; it&rsquo;s where the seasonnaires let off steam, and the laughter echoes through the trees well past dark.

The Geneva Airport (GVA) is the primary airport used to reach Chamonix, located approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away by road. Skiers heading to Chamonix may also consider Lyon-Saint-Exup&eacute;ry Airport (LYS), roughly 2 and a half hours away by road, as another flight option to reach the resort.

Mont-Blanc

Mont-Blanc's ski areas are open from December to May, subject to snow conditions.

They extend over 4 main slopes: Brévent/Flégère, offering south-facing slopes and exceptional views of the Mont-Blanc chain, the Grands Montets, high altitude north-facing slopes which dominate the village of Argentière and the Balme area, wide open slopes at the top of the Chamonix valley, bordering on Switzerland. The sister resort of Les Houches lies at the opposite end of the valley and is accessible with the Mont-Blanc Unlimited ski pass.

Chamonix also offers 4 smaller valley ski areas, ideal for children, beginners, or for experimenting new snowriding techniques: Les Planards, Le Savoy, La Vormaine and Les Chosalets.
