For me, it's perfect for families with children. Everyone (regardless of skill level) will find a slope they like. Wherever you are, you'll always ski back to your own resort, not to a neighboring one or one in another valley. It's close (about 10 km) to Orelle, and from the summit you're in Val Thorens. With a La Norma ski pass, you only pay the difference between the Val Thorens ski pass and the largest ski resort (probably in the world, and certainly in Europe). If it's not "summer" in winter and there's snow, La Norma is a really great resort. I recommend it.

We love staying in La Norma!! For the past four years, we've discovered this family-friendly, pedestrian-only ski resort with its manageable size. The ski school, ski patrollers, and shopkeepers are all so friendly and welcoming. The ski area isn't huge, but it's perfect for beginners with children. The slopes are wide and well-maintained. The area is quite shady, which means that despite the relatively low altitude, the snow is always good. Outside of school holidays, the lifts aren't overcrowded. The Norma Loops toboggan run is a great experience, as is the Lugi'kart with Pierrot.

We've been coming to this resort for 10 years and particularly appreciate the warm welcome. There's entertainment every evening, the restaurants are pleasant (and often fully booked), the town center is entirely pedestrianized, and there's plenty of parking. As for the skiing, lift passes are reasonably priced, the ESF (French Ski School) is dynamic, we've never lacked snow (the advantage of a north-facing slope), and it's easy to navigate the ski area. Ideal for families.

I recently spent a holiday in La Norma, a ski resort that won me over with its many qualities. Among its highlights, I must emphasize the excellent grooming work done on the slopes. The snow quality was remarkable.
The diversity of the slopes is also a major asset of La Norma. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will find routes suited to all levels. The well-maintained slopes and dedicated beginner areas make this resort ideal for families, allowing children to learn safely while having fun.
Another notable advantage is the guaranteed snow in La Norma. Thanks to its north-facing slopes and, I believe, more than 160 snow cannons, the resort benefits from reliable snow cover throughout the season.
La Norma's unique feature as a pedestrian-only resort is its peaceful and safe atmosphere, perfect for strolling and fully enjoying the mountain environment.
However, it's important to note that the resort faces north, which can lead to cooler temperatures. This is offset by the abundant sunshine, offering bright and pleasant days on the slopes. While some might consider this a drawback, I personally found that the combination of a north-facing aspect and plenty of sunshine creates a perfect balance.
In conclusion, La Norma is a great ski destination that will satisfy skiers of all levels. Advantages such as excellent grooming, slopes suitable for everyone, guaranteed snow, a pedestrian-friendly resort, and an ideal atmosphere for children far outweigh the drawbacks of its north-facing aspect. Dégradation depuis changement de direction, avec le but évident d'économies sur l'entretien des pistes, et nouveau cette saison le télésiège de la repose est mis à l'arrêt pour économie d'énergie
Donc obligation de prendre la télécabine donc de déchausser et éventuellement d'attraper le covid, sans compter que pour arriver à la repose il faut prendre une piste verte qui est un chemin sans fin avec forcément du monde, nous étions fervent de La Norma, nous l'avons abandonné.

Nous sommes allés à la Norma du 17 au 24 décembre et nous avons eu la chance d'avoir les animations pour les 50 ans de la station. C'était très chouette. La station est charmante ( tout piéton). La personne de l'office de tourisme est très aimable et nous a bien renseigné. Nous avons bénéficié d'une ballade par un guide. La sortie raquette que nous avons fait avec Dominique était géniale !
