A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Great family resort, tricky slopes back to Oz from both Alpe D'Heuz and Vaujany, beginners may be better off taking the lift back, especially in the afternoons when the slops get cut up and busy. New lift from Oz to Alpe D'Heuz opening in winter 2025 will be a welcome improvement.

The shopkeepers are pleasant, helpful, and welcoming, and the access to the slopes is great.
The major problem is the village maintenance. It's nothing but black ice. Two years in a row, two identical years. Numerous falls, including mine with a broken ankle, and the next day, as if by magic, everything is cleared. No response from the town hall, no compensation, no apology. More than disappointing.

Oz is quite well connected by road to Grenoble and the rest of France. It's a small, family-friendly resort linked to a sports area, and has remained relatively untouched by over-development. There are a few shops, a tourist office, and the ESF ski school, but it's very peaceful: a few activities are offered besides skiing.
Since it's located at an altitude of 1350m, snow conditions can sometimes be an issue, but thanks to excellent access to the Alpe d'Huez ski area, good snow cover is guaranteed across the entire resort at the beginning and end of the season.
I recommend it for experienced skiers looking for tranquility!

An ideal combination of tranquility and access to a vast and magnificent ski area. And plenty of hiking and snowshoeing activities.

The charm of a small resort with access to a large ski area.

A perfect resort for families, offering an excellent ski area and a wide variety of slopes if you take out the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine ski pass, which is perfectly linked to this small resort. This allows you to enjoy the advantages and intimacy of a small resort combined with the slopes of an international ski area.
However, the après-ski scene is really geared towards children and families and lacks a bit of variety.

Très belle station familial, gentillesse et convivialité. On s'y sent vraiment bien.
