A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
After at least 15 visits to this resort in 30 years, this Christmas will be the last. The lift pass prices are outrageous, and the increase is staggering every year! Even the parking lot is now pay-to-park, which is a nightmare when it comes to getting to and from 1600 for ski lessons! Samoëns is no longer a family village; it's just "prestige" hotels springing up everywhere, and staying at 1600 makes you feel completely isolated. There isn't even a toboggan run (except for those who can afford Club Med). It's clearly aimed at a clientele of very wealthy foreign tourists. What a shame!

A superb resort with a lot to offer, featuring a typical Haute-Savoie village!

Good resort with often decent snow cover thanks to its microclimate

Pleasant and relaxing after a day of powder skiing in the Grand Massif area

The village of Samoëns 700 is very friendly. The ski area is very pleasant but also very large. It therefore takes some time to get to the top of the resort. Otherwise, the slopes are wide and easy. The resort reaches 2500m, so the snow is very good above 2000m.

A family-friendly resort with plenty of activities for children, but also access to a fantastic ski area near Flaine where the scenery and slopes are magnificent. In short, a great resort if everyone isn't a skier or is a beginner, as there's something for everyone.

Really nice restaurant

I don't think I'll go back. The price of ski passes has become more expensive than at Les Arcs for a week, the slopes are very poorly marked, and you no longer receive a piste map—good luck in fog or snowfall! The village parking lot by the cable car has become pay-to-park and is therefore almost empty: what a frustration! The cable car closes at 4:45 pm to get back down to the resort!!! :-(

Many ski lifts are closed due to technical problems. No groomed runs are available to get back to Morillon and Samoëns, despite the abundant snowfall.
The ski area feels small considering the number of closed runs. Parking is expensive in Samoëns, while lift pass prices are exorbitant.
To make the most of the ski area, avoid staying in Samoëns and instead stay in Flaine or Morillon. If you're an expert skier, you'll quickly get bored.

Good resort but lax at the end of the season in April; the slopes are neglected, some are unusable
