Lipno is set in the Šumava region of southern Czechia, close to Lipno nad Vltavou and the Lipno Reservoir. It is a compact, family-focused ski resort with 135 ha of ski area, 15 pistes and 7 lifts. The skiable terrain covers around 11.6 km, with elevations from about 708 m to 900 m. Snowmaking supports the natural snow cover, which is useful in a lower mountain area where conditions can vary through the season. The resort is best suited to families, beginners and recreational skiers rather than those seeking steep alpine terrain. Around 40% of the pistes are suited to intermediate skiers, 52% to advanced skiers and a smaller share to expert-level skiers. The longest piste is about 1.4 km, giving enough length for relaxed cruising without making the area feel complicated. Lipno’s main strength is convenience. Ski school areas, child-friendly facilities, tubing and the wider lakeside setting make it a practical choice for a winter break with children or mixed-ability groups. Visitors should choose Lipno if they want an easy, good-value ski trip with short distances, simple navigation and a relaxed Czech mountain atmosphere.
