As a family, we've been to Oetz 13 times and have many positive things to say. The area has seen significant investment over the years; almost all the lifts are now very modern, and the slopes are always well-groomed. At 40 km, the area is rather small, although spacious, and all the runs are clearly separated. However, the runs are also quite short, so you have to link them together to avoid having to hop back on the lift again. Since the equally large Kühtai area is included in the ski pass and the ski bus runs regularly, even advanced skiers will find plenty to enjoy. Prices are moderate, although it's baffling why parking now costs €5. The ski area scores points for its proximity to the (charming) village; you can easily walk to the lifts from most accommodations. The Pitztal/Paznaun Valley areas of Hochzeiger, See, and Kappl are about 30 km away, which I would describe as more challenging and interesting – but that doesn't diminish the charm of Oetz.
