With 214km of pistes, family-friendly ski areas and new lifts and freestyle facilities for 2026/27, this Austrian resort has something for every skier.
High above the Upper Inn Valley in Austria’s stunning Tyrol, the villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis share a spectacular alpine playground. Framed by the towering peaks of the Ötztal Alps, the ski area boasts 214km of pistes set between 1,200m and 2,828m.
With altitude on its side, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is renowned for its snow-sure conditions and long ski season. Whether you’re carving your first turns in early winter or soaking up the sunshine in spring, there’s plenty to enjoy. And with around 2,000 hours of sunshine each year, the blue skies and breathtaking mountain views are all part of the appeal.
The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski season opens on 4 December 2026.
Skiing for all abilities
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis caters to all skiing abilities, with 47km of blue pistes, 112km of red runs and 27km of black pistes. Beginners can build confidence in dedicated learning areas, while intermediate skiers have plenty of red runs to explore. Advanced skiers can test themselves on expert-level descents such as Pezid-Vertikal and Frommes Extrem. Beyond the groomed pistes, the resort also offers 28km of marked ski routes and 12 freeride routes for those seeking more challenging terrain.

Made for family skiing
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has received mutliple awards for being one of the most family-friendly ski regions in the Alps. Children have 125,000 sqm of dedicated snow areas. In Serfaus, Murmli’s Kinderalm and Murmlipark provide space to learn and play; in Fiss-Ladis, Berta’s Kinderland and Berta’s Kindervilla offer more facilities for younger visitors.
Designed for all ages, the resort offers gentle beginner slopes, challenging runs for teens and adults, family-friendly lessons and lifts, childcare, and plenty of off-slope fun.
Ski lessons and childcare help parents plan their days, while varied terrain means families don’t have to stick to beginner slopes as children gain confidence.

What’s new for 2026/27?
The headline project is the €30 million replacement of the Planseggbahn in Serfaus. The new eight-seater chairlift replaces a six-seater that has operated since 1997, increasing capacity from 3,000 to 4,000 passengers an hour. The ride will take less than five minutes, with heated seats, child-safe bars and weather-protection hoods.
The lower station will house the Gampenbar, with around 240 indoor and outdoor seats. The Komperdell Panoramic Restaurant has also been refurbished, adding an espresso bar and an updated self-service area.
There are changes on the slopes, too. Fiss’s Sun Park is set to gain a rail line and a funslope line, bringing it to four lines. Eight Fun Areas and Berta’s Raceclub, where visitors can race against friends, provide further options beyond regular piste skiing.
Families can also look out for Murmli’s Family Run, a new forest route from the Gampen descent towards the Komperdellbahn mid-station. A redesigned play area at the Fiss ski depot is also planned.
For an early start, the Sunrise Hexensee experience offers the chance to watch daylight reach the mountains before skiing. New photo points are planned at Wonnealm and the Alpkopfbahn top station, while selected locations around the resort offer digital postcards.
Beyond the pistes
More than 100km of winter walking routes provide an alternative to skiing, alongside snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ski touring. There are also two 4km toboggan runs and the Masner Express, a converted snowcat that travels into the mountain area.
For a different sort of descent, the Serfauser Sauser flying fox, Skyswing giant swing and Fisser Flieger offer alternatives to skis. They’re worth considering for groups with mixed interests or for a break from the slopes. Find out more about winter activities in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.

Evenings on the mountain
Mountain dining options include the Zirbenhütte and Monte Mare, which hosts the Sunset Dinner Masner.
After the lifts close, visitors can try night skiing or tobogganing. Alternatively, catch one of the resort’s evening events: Kids Night at Berta’s Kinderland and Adventure Night ‘Smile’ in Serfaus; Nightflow ‘Disco Disco’ in Fiss; and Magic Ladis Marktdorf alongside a water show at Lader Castle Pond.
The SnowArt Genussfestival takes place on 4–6 and 11–13 December 2026, with regional food and live music marking the start of the season. Find out more about events and activities in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.

Getting around
Serfaus has its own underground railway, linking parts of the village with the lift connections. Known as the Serfaus Underground, it is described as the world’s smallest and highest-altitude air-cushion underground railway. It reopened in summer 2019 after modernisation, giving visitors another way to get around without relying on a car.
The winter season opens on 4 December 2026.
