Nordkette-Seegrube/Hafelekar

The Nordkette (2334m) can be reached directly from Innsbruck city centre in just a few minutes! Take the Nordkettenbahnen up to the seegrube area for panoramic views of Innsbruck and surrounding mountains. The diverse terrain is well suited to all types of skier. Beginner skiers will find ski schools and gentle slopes like ‘Cloud 9’ which is popular with families. Intermediate skiers have a good choice of slopes of varying length and difficulty, such as the Hungerburg-Saalbach or the scenic Seegrube Panorama run.  Advanced skiers have a number of off-piste routes and challenging runs, including the Alte Kar Lech run with its challenging steeps and thrilling descents.

Axamer Lizum

Axamer Lizum (1580-2340m) has a good snow record and a diverse range of slopes, just 20km from Innsbruck Airport. Families and beginners have a good selection of gentle slopes while advanced skiers and snowboarders have a good choice of on and off-piste options. Axamer Lizum is part of the Nordpark Ski Area, which also includes Muttereralm and the Seegrube.

Igls – Patscherkofel

Patscherkofel is a three-times Olympic venue and just 16km from Innsbruck Airport. Igls village is a good base to stay, close to Patscherkofel Mountain. Some of the most popular ski runs include the challenging Piste 1 (Olympiaabfahrt) which is the Olympic downhill run and the Piste 8 (Panoramaabfahrt) which offers stunning panramic views, ideal for intermediates.

Kuhtai

The small resort of Kuhtai (2,020m), just 35km from Innsbruck, is one of the highest ski resort villages in Austria. The resort’s wide variety of terrain is suitable for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers. The high-altitude slopes offers a good mix of wide-open slopes to more challenging runs and off-piste. There’s good access between both sides of the high mountain pass. And resort accommodation is easily accessible, close to the ski lifts at the bottom of the slopes.

Seefeld

Just 27km from Innsbruck, the Region Seefeld ski area comprises five sunny ski areas with 26km of pistes and 24 cable cars. Seefeld (1,180m) prides itself on having uncrowded pistes and no long queues. It is ideal for families with its beginner ski ciruit, toboggan run, Kinderland and the Freestyle Fun Park. The slopes are dotted with cosy mountain restaurants and rustic huts. The Region Seefeld is served by regular ski buses which are free!

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl (1800-3030m) is a popular ski resort known for its high-altitude skiing and reliable snow conditions. Located 97km from Innsbruck Airport, you will find diverse terrain for all levels of skier and the high altitude means an excellent snow record throughout the long winter season. Slopes reach up to a lofty 3,030m and are served by modern ski lifts. There are also snow parks and plenty of challenging off-piste skiing. The resort has a lively apres-ski scene with numerous bars and restaurants.
