A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I'm always torn between Tignes/Val'd'Isère, Trois Vallées, or Zermatt. If it's purely about the variety of skiing, then Tignes/Val'd'Isère wins.

A truly delightful discovery! The ski area is fantastic, the slopes are perfect, thank you to the snow groomers!! The shuttle buses are incredibly convenient, thank you to the super friendly drivers! It's lively and vibrant... The ESF instructors are incredibly friendly, REALLY!

It's a superb ski resort for its terrain, but even if you don't ski, there are plenty of activities to do and a great après-ski atmosphere ⛷️

A vast high-altitude area with several villages linked by ski slopes and free shuttle buses!
Paid parking is available almost everywhere...
The largest ski area linked to Val d'Isère; modern and fast lifts!

The Tignes resort boasts modern and well-maintained ski lifts. The slopes are wide and meticulously groomed. A wide variety of activities are available besides skiing. However, parking and lift pass prices remain high.

“We spent a week in Tignes from December 28th to January 5th with my wife and our 4-year-old son, and it was a real success! My son loved the slopes and the ESF ski school facilities, especially the Piu-Piu Club, which is perfect for toddlers.
For my part, I was able to enjoy the black runs, which are always well-groomed, as well as the marked off-piste areas, with exceptional snow quality. We also enjoyed the mountain restaurants, where we ate very well while enjoying superb views.
We also took advantage of the indoor swimming pool, which is very well-equipped with water slides, several pools, areas for toddlers and older children, as well as lap lanes. The sports complex is a real bonus, especially since access is free with the weekly lift pass, which is really appreciated.
For New Year's Eve, the resort organized a superb open-air concert, followed by a magnificent bonfire. fireworks added a magical touch to our stay.
Despite the heavy snowfall, the resort managed the situation perfectly: in just half an hour the following morning, the entire ski area was open again. Remarkable organization!
I wholeheartedly recommend Tignes to families and ski enthusiasts of all levels, whether they're learning or exploring more challenging slopes.

Tignes is a resort where you're guaranteed to find snow. The ski area is large and well-organized around the lifts, making off-piste skiing easy and safe. However, it seems to me that the lift pass is the most expensive in France. We stayed for New Year's Day, and there was a fantastic fireworks display with lots of entertainment. Afterwards, we noticed that Tignes is trying to move upmarket and catch up with Val-d'Isère.
