A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Its localisation makes it the best ski station. The highest slopes that guarantee the snow; a lot of options when everything is open and when sopes are prepared during the night which is more and more rare.I'm comming to Val Thorens for years twice a year and it's getting worse and worse for us but i'm sure the bussiness is growing, bravo!. I can uderstand to leave some low priority zones for the end but the most popular slopes must be prepared correctly. In fact it's bloody scandal to pay so much for skipass and find hudge snow bumps in the morning then spending all day doing slow slalom trying not to break legs. Another thing i noticed this year (January 2025) is more and more people everywhere. some slopes were crowded like hell. More and more time spent waiting for lifts. Crowd plus bumps - that's the fun!

A really lovely resort, great snow, super convenient, everything is close by. A magnificent resort.

Overall, a great resort, even the prices in the shops aren't too excessive.
Yoann Blanchet

A very nice ski resort, suitable for young and old alike. Beautiful ski slopes, easy enough for beginners.
Philipp Schultz
Varied ski area, plenty of vertical meters

A huge disappointment. A resort with enormous potential, if only they'd let the snowcats out sometimes... only once in the last week was there corduroy waiting for me in the morning. Knee-deep moguls. Transfers between the other valleys are very demanding and time-consuming. Prices are outrageous. No ski buses.

The ski area is vast, the lifts vary from resort to resort, and La Folie Douce Meribel is a must-do!
It's a shame about the Cime Carron cable car this year, as it provides access to some great slopes…
