Peak Resorts Moves East
Peak Resorts, the Missouri-based company that operates six Heartland ski areas – two in Missouri, Snow Creek and Hidden Valley, Paoli Peaks in Indiana and three in Ohio, Mad River Mountain, Brandywine and Boston Mills – had often been referred to as the American Ski Company of the Midwest. Slowly they've been moving east acquiring a couple of ski areas in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, and now word comes that Peak is buying American Ski Company resorts Mount Snow in New Hampshire and Attitash in Vermont.

Ohio Gets Fresh, Adds Its Own
The latest storm to hit the Midwest brought several inches of new snow to many of the state's ski areas and left temperatures in place cold enough for the mountains to make even more.

It has been a long struggle this season, but finally all ski areas throughout the Heartland are fully open. It's the latest that old timers associated with the Midwest snowsports industry can remember for all areas finally getting fully open.

Ohio Rebounds
The winter weather is slowly improving over most of the Heartland, but it's taken its toll. Ski areas in Ohio – Snow Trails, Mad River Mountain and Boston Mills were finally able to open briefly late last week, but all had to close down again over the weekend; again waiting for cold weather with hopefully some snow, but more importantly temperatures cold enough to make snow.
