The Alpes-Maritimes region is blessed with a unique location. It is fortunate to have the wonderful Mediterranean lapping at the foot of its mountains. Skiing in the morning, petanque in the afternoon… It offers an unrivalled winter programme.

Vast, varied, perfectly adapted and equipped skiable areas for all types of ski & board sports mean big ticks in all your "yes" boxes.
A wealth of alternative activities to skiing:
- Ice cascade climbing: yes.
- Dog sleds: yes.
- Snow shoe hiking: yes.
- Ice track car racing: yes.
- Mountaineering: yes.
- Exploring the heritage of medieval villages: yes.

In short, the Alpes-Maritimes region is a winter sports tourist playground.
The department offers unique amenities at three international standard stations and twelve family stations, ticking yet more "yes" boxes…

Alpes-Maritimes is an exceptional mountain destination like nowhere else.
Whichever station you choose to ski in, you are never more than one and a half hours from the beach by car.
Rounding off a day’s skiing with a glass of wine on the Croisette or the Promenade des Anglais enjoying a wonderful view of the Mediterranean is possible here and nowhere else!

Ski in pristine powdered snow at 10am and enjoy a trip to the Nice Carnival or the Citrus festival at Menton at 4pm.
Enjoy a delicious cheese fondue in front of a roaring fire in the evening and the thrill of a seaside casino the next day.
Explore a Roman chapel in one of the villages in the haut-pays or while away a morning sipping a belvedere at the top of the slopes at Isola 2000 with its views of the Barre des Ecrins to the North and Corsica to the South.

Last but not least enjoy the ultimate experience of starting the day with an exhilarating slalom with friends and meeting up a little later, this time boules in hand, for a game of petanque and drink a pastis in the village square a few kilometres below the station. The sun shines in January as well as in July, making this fantastic life possible.

In Alpes-Maritimes the Mediterranean is located at the foot of the mountains which brings an added dimension to your winter sports holidays.
Our snow and sea exception which makes the real difference.
