Tignes sits high in the Tarentaise Valley of Savoie, linked with neighbouring Val d’Isère to form a vast, high‑altitude ski area. The domain offers 300 km of pistes served by 76 lifts and a full spread of 161 pistes (22 green, 66 blue, 41 red, 32 black), with skiing from 1,550 m at Les Brévières up to 3,456 m on the Grande Motte. Total skiable terrain spans 3,680 ha within a wider 10,000 ha mountain area, backed up by two glaciers that underpin a long season from November to May. Snowfall is reliably strong, with an average of 669 cm a year, and the altitude keeps conditions consistent through spring.
Families are well looked after: Tignes holds the Famille Plus label, beginner zones sit in every village, and several lifts are free for learners. Off the slopes, Le Lagon aquatic centre (with a 25 m pool and children’s areas) and the Tignespace indoor sports complex make bad‑weather days easy, while free resort shuttle buses link Val Claret, Le Lac, Le Lavachet, Tignes 1800 and Les Brévières.
