Lovely, little village, just for outdoor activities. Mostly natural snow and if you never tried it you will absolutely notice and probably love that feeling you get edging the skies! This is a paradise for families with children 10Y and up that love to ski. Or if your party is mixed level skiier. There are 2 Heliski companies, and you could probably be a newbie in the short run from the valley chairlifts. I don't mind the lifts being slow or having to change twice to get to the top, once there you have the most breathtaking view, dry snow, and no ice, perfect conditions for a long, long run to the valley. I believe that early or late season is the best time to go, due to the altitude. We went Easter week 2018, 2nd week in April, and 5 of 6 days the Zermatt link was open, day it was closed the fog made the mountain disappear and even my ski-crazy teen came back to the hotel after 2 runs in the "milk". The day we choose it snowed and the wind was picking up so they closed the link 1H early, we were lucky having a pistguide that could get us the fastest way back, as being stuck in Zermatt means having to find a bed for the night, try to get back by car or other transport will cost a fortune. Are you a part timer, ski from lunchtime and then starts party from after ski, there will be far better places, but there are some places and if it's only a couple of beers chatting with your company after dinner there are plenty. You won't find any indoor activities part from SPAing, but there are outdoors to find if your legs are tired from the 20 km slope. I would recommend to have a pistguide 1st day to find the best slopes for you and if possible for the Zermatt also. Italy and Italians means great food, slow but friendly service, you just to have to accept that it is relaxed and to enjoy the taste and view, who needs to rush when on vacation anyway? Maybe it just because I am a Swede, that use to horrible weather, all artificial snow and long queues to a sad lifts. So if you a relaxed, intermediate skier that appreciate good company, great food and wide slopes with perfect dry snow, this really is the place.
