Snow Reporter Comments: Stelvio officially halted skiing on August 15 and remains suspended until further notice. Extreme high-altitude temperatures have stripped away the protective winter snowpack, exposing the vulnerable bare ice underneath. While sightseeing cable cars remain open, ski training is strictly on hold with zero out of six ski lifts spinning and zero out of nine kilometers of pistes open. The resort recorded zero centimeters of new snowfall yesterday, following a fleeting five-centimeter dusting on August 22 that was quickly obliterated by daylight melting. The current weather profile is clear, sunny, and deceptively mild, featuring pleasant but glacier-damaging daylight highs of 13°C that dip only to a soft 4°C overnight with a gentle three meters per second breeze.
