A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Flaine is a pedestrian-friendly resort that ticks many boxes. The Bauhaus style is making a comeback. Snow conditions are always reliable. The ski area is lovely, especially the Combe de Gers. Great for families.

A resort suitable for all levels. Magnificent and varied scenery. From the top of Flaine, at Grandes Platières, you'll enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks. A great atmosphere in this resort, with a full range of sports activities. Cultural program and events throughout the season. My favorite resort!

There's something for everyone and every level. The facilities are numerous. However, the pricing policy is starting to be questionable.

Apart from the prices, everything else is fine.

Flaine boasts a large mountain range, making it quite appealing. The snow conditions are consistently excellent. Access to other sectors (Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz) expands the range of slopes available, allowing skiers to explore areas other than the entire main domain, as these are more family-friendly. Enjoying a sandwich at lunchtime with a view of Mont Blanc is a definite bonus!

Excellent resort for good skiers

Flaine is a good resort and the one that truly showcases the Grand Massif, with relatively gentle slopes.
And it's especially family-friendly, unlike resorts like Avoriaz, for example, which place a certain emphasis on freestyle, snow parks, etc.

The large area pass is very expensive at €59/day. No weekly discount. A 4-hour pass costs €53.10 – go figure! And to top it all off, they charge you €2 for the piste map – outrageous! In short, this resort treats its customers like fools. The area is difficult to navigate, as some of the connections between resorts are so long. Not suitable for beginners (mostly red runs in Flaine and almost no green ones). The resort itself is far from beautiful... for the same price, there are much better options, so look elsewhere.

We visited during the New Year's Eve week, skiing 6 days. The place was totally overcrowded. This might not surprise considering the dates, but the problem is that 30-40% of the resort was closed without any apparent reason (both lifts and slopes). This lead to massive queues in several key lifts, very few red slopes available and not a single black one. Considering the forfait costs nearly the same as in the 3 valleys, it clearly isn't good value for money. Perhaps families or beginners might find something to like, but it's not obvious to me.
But I love skiing here because the Grand Massif ski area is huge, parking is easy, there are several restaurants, and the view of the Mint Blanc is magnificent, etc.
