I just spent an amazing pow day, even if we had terrible visibility during the first half of the day, when it cleared out, the off piste was incredible and varied. Great experience .
Massive bowl, hidden from big nearby resorts, great off piste, local vibes
Exposed and visibility can be reduced on cloudy days

Nice ski area but access to the slopes is only possible via gondolas which do not have a high enough capacity, resulting in a 30-minute wait and the free shuttle buses are insufficient and are more than saturated.
Beautiful ski area, beautiful little village
Shuttle buses are packed, it's like rush hour in Paris. Access to the slopes via gondolas is also overcrowded, with waits of nearly 30 minutes.

Les Contamines-Montjoie is an ideal ski resort for those seeking an authentic and friendly experience. Located in a breathtaking natural setting, with stunning views of Mont Blanc, it offers a varied and well-maintained ski area, suitable for both beginners and experienced skiers. The slopes are wide and uncrowded, allowing for a calm and pleasant skiing atmosphere. Furthermore, the village is charming, with typical Savoyard architecture and a good selection of restaurants and local shops. The facilities are modern and well-designed, and the welcome is always warm. In short, it's a perfect resort for a ski getaway that's both sporty and relaxing.
Area with good snow
Few après-ski

The hassle of getting to the slopes, the long wait in the morning, it's pure torture
Shops
The car park and the egg-shaped queue to access the slopes

The ski area is very spacious and ideal for advanced skiers and snowboarders. The focus here is on the sport itself; those looking for après-ski are definitely in the wrong place. It was the perfect alternative for a very diverse experience both on and off the slopes.

Not a place for après-ski, otherwise no disadvantages.

Traditional village, superb ski area, a resort you'll want to return to!!!
A superb ski area for all levels, with ideal snow conditions thanks to its location.
A car or bus is necessary to get to the ski area.

Excellent ski area with a favorable orientation that ensures much better snow conditions than neighboring resorts. Plenty of excellent off-piste and between-piste areas after snowfall. Magnificent views of Mont Blanc. Affordable lift passes, plus various group offers.
Excellent snow quality, affordable lift passes
not really an après-ski atmosphere
Marie Pillot
It's a nice resort, far from the large, impersonal ski areas, and they know how to adapt their lift passes, for example, 4 hours of skiing or a full day, but there isn't enough of a price difference between the two. The village has everything you need in terms of restaurants and shops, but a small spa would be a plus for après-ski or on rainy days. The same goes for a cinema, yoga workshops, or crafts...
A remote location, offering a wide range of activities in both summer and winter when there's snow, unlike 2024. Wide slopes and off-piste skiing are possible, as are some ski touring routes suitable for professional skiers.
Notre Dame de la Gorge cable car closed for the Nordic Easter holidays = major traffic jams
