Great resort. I've been skiing there for a long time and I've had better seasons than others. It's a shame the Hourc chairlift is permanently closed; it was the only opportunity to ski among the trees.
Better snow conditions than all other resorts
Frequent winds, the sun disappears quickly. Hourc chairlift permanently closed

Piau-Engaly is a ski resort renowned for its **exceptional snow cover**, guaranteed by its high altitude (up to 2,600 meters), which allows it to offer **often superior snow quality** compared to other Pyrenean resorts. Its **varied ski area** of 38 slopes is suitable for all levels, from beginners to expert skiers, with excellent off-piste opportunities as well. The atmosphere is **friendly and family-oriented**, enhanced by the warm welcome from the staff and instructors of the French Ski School (ESF). Furthermore, its **unspoiled natural setting**, its **harmonious integration into the landscape**, and its **more affordable prices** compared to those in the Alps make it an attractive destination. In summer, the resort offers **magnificent hikes** and the chance to observe local wildlife. However, a few **weak points** should be noted. The **ski lifts are sensitive to strong winds**, and their closure can sometimes frustrate skiers, especially since there is no compensation on lift passes. **Parking can be complicated** during peak season, with car parks poorly cleared of snow and quickly becoming full. The resort also suffers from a **lack of commercial infrastructure**: few shops, only one supermarket with high prices, and no ATMs, forcing visitors to go to Saint-Lary for some shopping. Furthermore, **nightlife is limited**, with few bars and restaurants open late, which may disappoint those looking for a festive atmosphere after skiing. Finally, **access can be difficult in the event of heavy snowfall**, requiring appropriate equipment such as chains or winter tires. In conclusion, Piau-Engaly is an ideal resort for those who prioritize **skiing, nature, and an authentic atmosphere**, but it may lack the activities and amenities for visitors seeking a more complete resort experience.
Large ski area with good and long-lasting snow cover. A huge choice of slopes.
Only one large chairlift to get to the very top. No restaurant at altitude.

A lovely ski area with great slopes for all ages and excellent snow conditions; it's my favorite resort of all the ones I've been to. I've been coming back every year since I discovered it.
A very beautiful ski area with a lovely blue run
There's a bit of a lack of space on some days

Piau Engaly is the best resort in the Pyrenees for those looking for a family mountain holiday. It has everything you need in terms of shops and restaurants. The ski area is large, and the slopes are always well-groomed by the resort staff. A bonus is the spa center right in the middle of the slopes, which is very pleasant after a day of skiing.
Snow is guaranteed. The resort is of a manageable size.
Little life in the evening

Great resort for fun! Slopes easily accessible to all. Friendly staff. Go for it!
Human-sized station
The station center is a bit old
A resort suitable for all levels, but particularly popular for off-piste skiing. No après-ski scene.
Large off-piste area
No life after skiing

The hotels blend well into the landscape. The Dolaine is perfect for a day or two with the family. A nice bonus is the spa at the foot of the slopes.
Plenty of blue runs for intermediate skiers.
Only one chairlift to get back to the top of the ski area

A really nice resort for all levels. Overall, the snow cover is excellent compared to its neighbors (30 to 40 cm of powder on Monday, April 1st...). There aren't many lifts, but you rarely have to queue, and there are plenty of varied runs. And above all, the possibility of skiing in powder right next to the runs (or between the runs): fantastic!
One of the best snow conditions in the Pyrenees.
Quite quickly in the shade at the start of the season

My favorite resort, with or without the kids, for skiing or snowboarding. 2 hours and 15 minutes from Toulouse, which is reasonable. There aren't many lifts (but the queues are surprisingly short), and the slopes are beautiful and varied, with plenty of off-piste areas (including some very close to the groomed runs): fantastic in powder without taking any risks!
Varied slopes and ultimately quite little waiting at the lifts even though there are few of them.
In December the slopes are in the shade quite early.
Arnaud PICAT
It's a great resort where you can ski for hours without ever stopping. There's enough vertical drop to really enjoy yourself if you know how to ski, and powder days are the best there.
The ski area is much less flat than the other resorts in the area, and often has more snow! Excellent off-piste terrain!
Small resort, longer access, little nightlife
