Ski Amade: A Network Of 28 Resorts -

Ski Amadé is a region of Austria that is actually a network of 28 ski areas and towns, that when combined, some say, make up the largest ski area in Europe. It is named after guess who? Right: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who was born in the city of Salzburg.

The resorts are linked, either by lifts or by free shuttle buses, and it won't take longer than 20 minutes to get between any of them. There are 860 km of downhill slopes and 278 modern ski lifts. The highest ski lift in the region is at the Dachstein Glacier with an altitude of 2,700m. There are over 700 km of marked cross-country Nordic skiing tracks.

The resorts are made up of 28 villages in five principal regions that make up the alliance. The regions are Salzburger Sportwelt, Dachstein Tauern, Gastein, Hochkönigs Winterreich, and Grossarl Valley.

The resorts in Ski Amade include Altenmarkt, Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein, Dienten, Dorfgastein, Filzmoos, Flachau, Grossarl, Haus im Ennstal, Maria Alm, Muhlbach, Ramsau am Dachstein, Reiteralm/Fageralm, Schladming, Sportgastein, St. Johann, Wagrain, and Zauchensee/Flauchauwinkel/Kleiner.

The gateway airports are Munich and Innsbruck.
