Travelling to Cervinia - Breuil is straightforward, with several convenient routes from major transport hubs. The closest international airports are Turin (118 km), Milan Malpensa (160 km), and Geneva (190 km), all of which offer car hire and direct coach services to the resort. From Turin, the drive takes just under two hours, and it is well-signposted throughout. The nearest train station is in Ch&acirc;tillon-Saint-Vincent, approximately 28 km away, with onward connections by regional bus or taxi.
For those travelling by road, the A5 motorway leads to Ch&acirc;tillon, followed by a scenic drive up to Breuil-Cervinia. Scheduled bus services run from Ch&acirc;tillon and other Aosta Valley towns, and during peak season, shuttle services operate to and from nearby resorts. While hiring a car offers flexibility, coach transfers and public buses provide cost-effective and comfortable alternatives, especially during the snowy months when parking in the village may be limited.

There are boutique lodges with spa facilities for couples seeking a relaxing escape, as well as larger hotels and apartment-style options catering to families and groups. Several accommodations are located directly on or very near the slopes, offering the convenience of quick lift access. For those looking for an upscale stay, properties with gourmet dining, wellness centres, and panoramic Matterhorn views are also available, while budget-conscious travellers will find plenty of welcoming, well-equipped lodgings within walking distance of the lifts.

In town
Cervinia is awash with great restaurants and there are more than 50 restaurants available to suit all tastes and budgets.
Nestled in the centre of town is long-time favourite and cheap-ish Copa Pan. &nbsp;The menu&nbsp;includes steak and chips, pizza, homemade pasta, and fondue.&nbsp; Upstairs is a lively bar with live music. Expect a younger crowd,
Award-winning La Chandelle in Hotel Hermitage is renowned for its creative and international menu. Food is served in a fashionable dining room with wonderful views of the surrounding pine forest. The wine list is highly recommended &ndash; ask your waiter to suggest a bottle to compliment your food.
Auberge is famous for its excellent, seasonal food.&nbsp;It&rsquo;s so good you&rsquo;ll want to make repeated visits. Specialities include polenta, trout smoked with Valle d&rsquo;Aosta larch wood, braised meat dishes, and warm chocolate fondant. Chef Damiano Ceva believes in a short supply chain, with ingredients selected from local produce made by small-scale farmers.
On the mountain
On the way down from Cervinia&rsquo;s longest run, &nbsp;head to Willy&rsquo;s Bar.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s a great spot for lunch, popular with visitors and locals.&nbsp;
A little off piste near the start of run no. 9 in Valtournenche is Lo Baracon dou Tene a friendly mountain restaurant with great pasta and reasonable prices.&nbsp; Grab a pew &nbsp;on the south-facing terrace - it has stunning views.
Also very good, and with a loyal following, is the historic Chalet Etoille. Located at the bottom of the Cervino, having first opened in 1974, the restaurant is a family-run affair.&nbsp; Cesare Frassy and his wife, chef Ulla Frassy, have created a sophisticated and delectable menu with offerings like reindeer tempura and Norwegian crab dumplings. Our reporters felt compelled to visit twice.
Meanwhile, on the main slopes, Bontadini has a reputation for excellent service and fresh delicious food. People queue patiently for the self-service counter to open and we can see why when the restaurant has a wide range of satisfying dishes. Popular items include the risotto, the osso bucco and melt in your mouth pasta.
Apres
Cervinia&rsquo;s apres ski while lively, doesn&rsquo;t have the same pull as nearby Zermatt&rsquo;s. This changes at the weekend when locals from Turin and Milan arrive. If you&rsquo;re willing to drive, there are livelier spots further afield with one such option being the world famous casino at St Vincent.

Cervinia - Breuil offers terrain that&rsquo;s both expansive and diverse, sitting beneath the towering summit of the Matterhorn. The resort itself is part of a wider cross-border ski area shared with Zermatt and Valtournenche, giving visitors access to over 300 km of pistes if they opt for the international pass. Within Cervinia - Breuil&rsquo;s own 104 km of runs, skiers will find wide, open slopes with excellent visibility &mdash; ideal for building confidence or enjoying a full day&rsquo;s descent from high-altitude peaks.
The terrain is particularly appealing for intermediate and advanced skiers. Notable pistes include the famous Ventina, a scenic descent from Plateau Rosa at 3,480 metres down to town &mdash; a 20 km run offering steady gradients and stunning views. The vertical drop of 1,430 metres creates long, satisfying descents that rarely feel crowded. Meanwhile, the Plateau Rosa glacier ensures reliable snow and year-round skiing opportunities.
For beginners, gentle runs near Plan Maison and a well-organised ski school provide a strong foundation. These areas are easily accessible by gondola and offer wide pistes where new skiers can practise in a relaxed setting. Families appreciate the simplicity of the layout and the ease of navigating between zones without technical terrain.
Advanced skiers will enjoy challenging red and black pistes that carve down steep sections and high ridges. While there&rsquo;s only one designated snow park, it is well-maintained and includes features for freestylers to test their skills. Those seeking adventure can make use of the lifts connecting to Zermatt for steeper descents and more technical skiing.
The dramatic alpine setting, featuring wide glacial basins and uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn, adds to the overall experience. Whether cruising the higher slopes or descending into the heart of town, Cervinia - Breuil&rsquo;s terrain offers something for every ability and makes the most of its high-altitude advantage.

If you're hoping to avoid queues and ski quieter pistes, aim for weekdays outside of the Italian school holidays in January or late March. The Ventina run is popular but starts to thin out in the late morning; early risers can enjoy this legendary descent with few interruptions if they catch the first lift from Plateau Rosa. For a peaceful lunch with incredible mountain views, skip the busy base-area restaurants and head to Bontadini or Chalet Etoile &mdash; both are slope-side favourites among those in the know.
Cervinia - Breuil has a few lesser-known gems for those willing to explore. The runs above Cime Bianche Laghi offer some of the best panoramic views in the region, and the pistes here tend to stay quieter even during peak periods. Those venturing across to Zermatt will find the Stafelalp area surprisingly calm in the early afternoon &mdash; a great spot for an extended run and a relaxed break before heading back across the border.
For apr&egrave;s-ski, most visitors gather in the village, but locals often head to Yeti Bar or La Grotta, where the atmosphere is a little more laid-back and welcoming. If you&rsquo;re after scenic photography spots, head up the Cime Bianche gondola around golden hour &mdash; you&rsquo;ll get sweeping views across the glaciers and the Matterhorn bathed in soft light. Finally, non-skiers shouldn&rsquo;t miss the high-altitude ice cave at Plateau Rosa &mdash; a cool detour that many overlook but is well worth the visit.
