Heiligenblut - Grossglockner Reviews

I visited Heiligenblut-Grossglockner with my family for four days in early February 2026. During that time, the F and O T-bar lifts and trails 2, 2a, 3, and 11a were closed, likely due to insufficient snow on the wind-exposed slopes. That's a lot for such a small resort, but it was still an unforgettable trip thanks to the fabulous views of the Grossglockner from virtually every vantage point. Both from the slopes and from the town itself. A fabulous one, too. From Flessalm, you can watch chamois running down the Scharecka slope. A unique attraction for children and others is the rainbow-colored suspended cable car that runs through a tunnel that appears to have been carved out long ago and resembles a mine shaft or natural cave. Pass prices are dynamic and depend on the time of purchase and the duration of the purchase. In my case, four days starting Sunday, February 1st, cost: October 28th - 187 euros, November 14th - 203 euros, January 20th - 213.5 euros, February 1st - 243.5 euros. A medieval church, crowning the legend of the saint's blood, towers over the town. There's also a huge Intersport with rental and service (cheaper than in Łódź!). In summary, Heiligenblut is the most beautifully situated resort I've ever been to, ideal for families with beginner skiers. You can't get lost there, and you can relax in the atmospheric pubs. No crowds or lines. I recommend it.

We chose this ski resort because of its bold promises of reliable snow conditions due to its high-alpine location. Unfortunately, this very high-alpine location seems to be the catch. The high-altitude slopes have no snowmaking equipment and rely on natural snow. However, this is often blown away by strong winds due to the high altitude. As a result, the corresponding lifts/slopes are not operated. And when 3 out of 9 lifts are not running, the ski area suddenly becomes very small and not very varied. Even the stunning mountain panorama doesn't compensate for this; after all, we wanted to ski...

• Sehr viel. Schischule ist im Tal. wenn leichter wind, bleibt einem nur die 2,5KM Tatalabfahrt. Für Familien und Eltern die nicht den ganzen Tag am Übungshang stehen wollen - nicht zu empfehlen!!!

Tolles Skigebiet mit einer super Aussicht auf den Großglockner. Mittlerweile kann man auch richtig weit oben SKifahren, da denke man direkt, man ist dem Himmel ganz nah :-) Einmal auch zum Freeriden da gewesen und hatte eine Menge Spaß!

One of my favorite areas although I have been there only once. The village is very nice it is situated near the highest mountain of Austria called the Großglockner and there is also a national park therefore you see that the nature is really special there. The skiing area offers everything what a skier needs. The slopes are very long and you will find them in every difficulty. However what really impressed me were those long, bride and very steep ski routes and the huge freeride possibility. Also for the kids there are some nice slopes and good lifts for their beginning. Additionally there are many huts all over the area where you can have dinner or just a drink in the sun. There are two areas which are connected through a really funny cable car. I would recommend this area to everyone because it offers something for everyone.

Eines meiner Lieblingsskigebiete obwohl ich leider erst einmal die Möglichkeit hatte dort Ski zu fahren. Der Ort ist sehr nett und überaus für erholsame Ferien geeignet da von sehr schöner Natur umgeben. Heiligenblut ist in der Nähe zum höchsten Berg Österreichs dem Großglockner und zum Nationalpark daraus abgeleitet kann man sich von der Schönheit der Umgebung schon etwas vorstellen. Das Skigebiet bietet einem alles was ein Skifahrer braucht. Die Abfahrten sind sehr lang und in allen unterschiedlichen Schwierigkeitsgraden zu finden. Jedoch das eigentlich interessante an dem Gebiet sind die Skirouten und die Freeride Möglichkeiten ein absoluter Genuss, meist sehr steil, lang und breit. Nach 4h im Gelände unterwegs schmerzen die Oberschenkel ordentlich jedoch macht man trotzdem weiter um den Tag voll auszukosten. Auch für die Kleinen wird allerhand geboten. Zahlreiche Hütten säumen die Pistenhänge in denen man gutes Essen bekommt. Die Pisten sind hauptsächlich in Richtung Sonne exponiert also wird man auch schön braun aus dem Urlaub kommen. Sehr lustige Bahn verbindet einen abgelegeneren Teil mit dem Rest des Gebiets. Sehr empfehlensertes Skigebiet vor allem für diejenigen die Skifahrerisch auf ihre Kosten kommen möchten.
