While I appreciate the fact that off piste areas are vast they aren’t particularly interesting because you have to go around ice surfaces and the glacier, and around the stones here and there . There’s one nice area for snowboarders if you go right from the Jochstock. But many areas are just long traverses with not very long runs down .... Full Review

I really enjoyed my stay at Engelberg. It is not too expensive and the views are amazing. With the skipass, you have access to all the pistes and also the Gletscher, which was a stunning place to discover. You don't run (ski) into a lot of inexpierienced skiërs.... Full Review

I just came back from a great week in this powderheaven:) Came in with great expectations and this place fullfilled them all! 4 perfect sunny days, split up with 2 days of 20cm new powdersnow made the offpiste amazing. The mixed terrain made for all experiencelevels was a good teacher for my snowboard and offpiste experience(medium). You can have it all here, from vertical drops in deep powder to the less steep, but awsome mountainsides in untouched powder. Some of the places are avalancheprone, so take precations and listen to locals and the avalanche/snow-reports. The only nag for my part, is the lifts and all the asian tourists that fill up the lower lifts and gondol to the top - all the time taking pictures and taking up skiiers space, but you can avoid the 2 gondols to the top by taking the chairlifts from 1'st stop, as they dont go there.... It took me a while to get used to Engelberg. First impressions are that it was all tight and steep pistes, often icy, not great for beginners and always crowded. But once you know where to go then there is plenty of space and off-piste options and you start to realise why it has a reputation as a freeride paradise! Careful on the glacier - there have been a few deaths over the last few years thanks to this and some avalanches. You need to know what you are doing and I would recommend a guide if you are new to the resort.... Full Review

Have visited Engelberge twice both in the April Easter holidays, helping lead a large group of young people.. Their are really two sides to the resort. One over the lake on the aptly named 'lake hopper', some nice higher altitude red and black runs from the Jochstok chair (very fast, good chair lift), some surprisingly rated blues at the bottom of that chair - they get a bit narrow half way down - maybe not suitable for complete beginners. And a lovely wide red & short black off the side of that, back down to the lake hopper. On the other side Stand is the place to go if you cant be bothered for the cable car filled with those who are silly enough to not be skiing! surprisingly in my experience these people spend most of their time cornering skiers and taking photos of them... - they are not unkind, its just a bit odd... The skiing from the top of Titlis is good, not very expansive but I generally avoided it until later in the day, their is a Really nice wide red run running along side the T bar (good for a spot of carving in the afternoon when everything else turns to slush) the only way to ski down from their is the Yellow run!!! (or the gonadal - back to getting in some photos)- basically a black that generally hasn't been pisted, Its nice and steep and great after a good dump, but can get pretty icy and mogully, although they tend to piste bash a narrow bit if it gets like this. Its a good run for intermediate to advanced - maybe not one for your first week on ski's.. below that their is a nice range of carvey red's or a short black. Their are some decent tricky runs for the advanced and some really nice red runs! I get the impression that for the more advanced and less encumbered by kids Engelberg would excel at off-piste.. but I haven't had the chance myself. It does cater very well I think for improving intermediates the yellow and 2 black runs offer something a bit tricky, while a nice mix of reds are their to hone and build up the technique! I'm not the type of skier that wastes skiing time visiting the town. But my few visits, the town was very friendly and had many beautiful views!! had a few nice Chat's with British speaking locals on a few chair lifts too - so the resort does get a tick in the friendly vibe box from me! ... Engelberg Titlis is a great place to go if you're looking for a scenic ski resort. There are also plenty of long off piste runs, although skiing off piste is frowned upon in Switzerland. I had tons of fun powder skiing on the glacier, and I got an amazing bluebird day.... Full Review
