The most magical of resorts! So beautiful and fairly quiet. The off piste at Gausta topped is world class - red to extreme black! You get there by a post WW2 communications shaft build by the USA (unique). Main hotel is a very solid 4 star which super wine list. Lovely town in Rjukan for a day off the slopes with a cinema and Vermort of Saboteurs fame - and absolute must of a visit with lots of kids hands on and deeply important history. I cannot forget the cross country, this is amazing - don't just go for the downhill as the runs go for miles and miles. I cannot recommend enough. However, if you want a busy resort with hundreds of night life spots this is not for you. It is not a major apres ski resort. More for the discerning skiier that wants something different - skiing with history. Get those Telemark skis out!
