The weather conditions were bad, nobody can be blamed for that. But when the cable car operates at a snail's pace (the advertised journey time is just under 7 minutes, but it took us 15 minutes for a trip up the mountain), you easily miss out on two runs per hour, yet the ski pass still costs the same... No thanks!

It's December 28th. The north run is closed. The 10-person gondolas are 90% empty. Sleds are not allowed when the ski lift is operating.
People buy three tickets for €33. One ascent. They want to take their sleds. Nope. The north lift is running. That's when the ski lift is open. A wheelchair or stroller would be okay, a local says. They can take their sleds when there's no more snow. The lift is financed by the local municipalities. They don't need the money.
The cable car is brand new. The 10-person gondolas can transport masses of people up the mountain when it's busy. The south slope is usually closed due to lack of snow. However, you can go up from the south, then use the north run, and only take the south run back down to Fleckl at the end. There's usually enough snow for skiing down. Parking in Fleckl costs €0.50 per hour, max €3. That's okay.

This is a good ski area for ease of access and the whole family. The town of Bischofsgrün is real and friendly. The area has historic value and is in Franconian Bayern (Bavaria), a real plus regarding great food, people, walking trails, places to stay, and Spa services. There is decent shopping too .

Zum Lernen ist die Skischule Nordbayern und die Piste Nord am Ochsenkopf super geeignet.
Relativ wenig los und keine langen Staus vor dem Lift.
Bei den Unterkünften in Bischofsgrün sollte man aber genau hinsehen, wo man unterkommen will

Der Lift fährt gefühlt die halbe Saison nicht. Begründung? Eis Wind oder vielleicht einfach nur die Tatsache das Winter ist.? Manchmal schwer nachvollziehbar. Der Anfängerlift ist für jeden Anfänger ein Witz. Sollte der Lift mal fahren sind die Wartezeiten am Wochenende ewig. Man wartet länger am und im Lift als man fährt. Sollte man mal in das Vergnügen kommen zu fahren sind die Pisten leider eher mittelmäßig. Jeder Schlepplift in der Umgebung ist da wohl besser und man hat deutlich mehr davon. Die Anlage gehört komplett erneuert, man könnte echt viel darauß machen. Es geht auch anders, zeigen die Kollegen aus Tschechien und in Mehlmeisel.

Eine nette Alternative für Familien, die nicht bis in die großen Skigebiete fahren wollen/können.
Grundsätzlich gibt es alles was man benötigt, jedoch sind die Wartezeiten an den Sesselliften echt lange.
Habe mit meiner Tochter (7) an einem Wochenende ca. 30 min. angestanden für eine Abfahrt... Was macht man nach der Abfahrt, um nicht auszukühlen? Man wechselt zum Anfängerlift, wo die Wartezeit deutlich kürzer ist, wenn nicht gerade 1-2 Skischulgruppen vor einem stehen... ;-)
Alles in allem finde ich es trotzdem eine schöne Alternative zu den großen Skigebieten.

Der Ochsenkopf ansich als kleines Skigebiet ist toll, Pisten sind auch immer gut gemacht und Schnee gibts auch meist genug. Aaaaaber: Am Wochenende und wenns geschneit hast, sind die Wartezeiten einfach extrem - das macht dann einfach keinen Spaß mehr, wenn man pro Stunde nur eine oder maximal zwei Abfahrten machen kann. Daher nur drei Sterne, wäre toll, wenn man hier etwas nachbessert (mehr Kassen, zuverlässigere oder schneller Liftanlagen)
