Family-friendly resort, very welcoming staff
The trails are very well maintained!
very crowded during peak season

Sometimes overrated
Nice powder when there is.
Too many british people. Overcrowded.

2nd visit today as yesterday had heavy must which is not there fault. Found today only half of the runs had been pisted. Very heavy going. The run back down to the bottom which is a blue should either be shut or pisted. This run is dangerous and will cause serious injury to someone. Was extremely annoyed myself and to be put in this situation as you have no option once you start this run you have to get down. It spoils the resort and we will not return.
Has plenty of runs and snow
Poor piste management or lack of it. Today 12th.

A vast ski area with slopes for all levels of skiers. A pleasant resort with unique and harmonious architecture, and comprehensive facilities (aquatic center, outdoor ice rink, etc.). Horse-drawn sleigh rides are also available.
Varied domain

A majestic ski resort that gives the feeling of being in a floating city, blending architectural gems, thrilling skiing and fun, with the unique natural beauty of Haute-Savoie, such as its icefalls. A must-see at least once in a lifetime, whether alone, as a couple, with friends, or with family ❄️
Remarkable and magical architecture
Sometimes flat on some slopes (snowboarder's opinion)

We were there the weekend of January 18th and 19th. Quick access to the lifts (we started with the Ardent gondola) and skied for two hours at the end of the day with a good discount on the lift pass. Good snow cover, though the snow was a bit hard. The slopes weren't too difficult in the area where we were.
Access to the ski lifts (we started with the Ardent gondola) and skied for 2 hours at the end of the day.
Some lifts close a little early

A perfect resort for all levels, with exceptional off-piste skiing and quick access to Switzerland.
Very large ski area
Nothing
A resort where the whole family, regardless of age, can find happiness in a complete change of scenery.
The area is magnificent, allowing you to change scenery, slopes and even countries every day.
Many of the housing units are starting to age and would need to be renovated.

A few things to know. First, to get to Avoriaz, you generally pass by Morzine. If Morzine has snow, you can be sure Avoriaz will have what you need. When you arrive at the Avoriaz resort, you need to go to the loading dock to unload your car, and then you have two choices. Either your car goes in a covered parking lot (€100 per week) or in an outdoor parking lot (€75, I think). Once you've made your choice, you have another to decide. You can either wait for a horse-drawn carriage to take you down to your accommodation (€13) or take a large toboggan (€1). Once settled in, you'll find everything you need right there (Sherpa supermarket, Carrefour bank, Crédit Agricole bank, restaurants, etc.). Now all you have to do is enjoy the snow during your stay. For the return trip, please note that horse-drawn carriages are available from 8:30 am, but snow groomers can also pick you up at any time. I hope this information is helpful.
Pedestrian resort, Avoriaz 90% chance of having snow
Parking prices increase every year (€100 in 2025)

Having stayed and skied in many resorts and areas of the French Alps, Avoriaz offers the best compromise between skiing, ski area, and resort life: skiing for all levels, a very pleasant pedestrian-friendly resort, at an altitude that guarantees snow cover.
Ski area
Parking and shuttle services are not yet optimal despite the services
