A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
The station suffers from a lack of training; it's a shame the facilities aren't up to standard for accessing the diamond area.

It's truly the perfect place to spend time with family. What's more, the small town of Megève, located right next door, is lovely for a stroll. And you can easily reach higher resorts like Notre-Dame de Belles Combes or Les Saisies by car, just a few kilometers away.

The resort is very wooded (fir trees), and many paths wind through nature. It remains a challenging resort with excellent quality slopes. The highest point offers a 360-degree view. Access to the Espace Diamant ski area is possible from this location.

This is my eighth time in Praz-sur-Arly.
I love the village-like atmosphere of the resort; it's quiet with just the right amount of shops, and its proximity to Megève (a 5-minute drive) makes it easy to stroll around town on afternoons when you don't feel like skiing or when the weather is awful (like rain). Chamonix is also 45 minutes away.
It's a far cry from a ski factory; the area is vast with magnificent scenery and stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif, and lots of fir forests.
As beautiful and large as the area is, it's really best suited to skiers of at least an intermediate level, as there are no green runs. These are only located at the base of the interconnected resorts. In Praz, the green runs are at the bottom, but there aren't many, so you can ski them all pretty quickly. Some of the ski lifts are also very old.
Another downside is the relatively low altitude, varying between 1000 and 2000 meters. So when temperatures rise, it can easily rain due to this darn climate change, which means the snow gets waterlogged easily. Combined with refreezing, this often results in hard snow.
On the plus side, the lift pass is really cheap, almost half the price of Evasion Mont Blanc, which is right next door, and you can find inexpensive accommodations. There's also an Intermarché supermarket nearby for groceries, which is a big plus.

A resort that's both sporty and family-friendly, offering 190 km of slopes in the Espace Diamant ski area.
Its proximity to the Mont Blanc massif and its climate ensure excellent snow conditions for much of the season.

Snow conditions permitting, the size of the ski area (190km of slopes) is impressive. The slopes aren't very difficult.
In good weather, there are magnificent views of the surrounding Alps and Mont Blanc. Prices are reasonable. We skied for four days in good weather, and the lower slopes (below 1,200m) were very limited. There wasn't enough snow and it was too warm. We would gladly return, hoping for more wintry weather.
