Valmeinier is a true gem for ski and nature lovers! Nestled in the heart of the Maurienne Valley, this resort offers a magnificent setting with breathtaking panoramic views of the Alpine peaks. The slopes are varied and perfectly groomed, ideal for all levels, from beginners to expert skiers. As part of the Galibier-Thabor ski area (along with Valloire), it guarantees a wide choice of runs and excellent snow conditions throughout the season. The ski lifts are modern and efficient, eliminating long waits. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, perfect for a holiday with family or friends. Shopkeepers and restaurateurs are friendly and offer delicious Savoyard dishes after a great day on the slopes. Finally, there are plenty of off-slope activities: snowshoeing, sledding, and a variety of entertainment for all ages. It's a destination you absolutely must discover to enjoy the pleasures of the mountains in an idyllic setting. I recommend Valmeinier without hesitation, a resort where you only want one thing: to come back!
A super friendly family resort with a large ski area
Nothing!
Pepito Micolasol
A really lovely, family-friendly resort, on a human scale. The ski area is vast and varied, and you can get around everywhere in Valmeinier on foot. I discovered it somewhat by chance, but I'll definitely be back this winter! I highly recommend it!
A family-friendly resort, high altitude = guaranteed snow and everything is within walking distance. The ski area is really great. I highly recommend it.

A beautiful resort, and despite the abundant sunshine and sometimes intense heat (10°C and above in March), the snow holds up well thanks to the impeccable work of the groomers, ensuring the slopes are always in excellent condition! It has a lovely village and family atmosphere, perfect if you're looking for something away from the larger resorts! Plenty of activities are available, such as sledding, paragliding, zip-lining, snowshoeing, and more.
Sunshine and superb slopes
The connections?

A very good family resort with good exposure, fairly consistent powder snow, and some nice, not-too-dangerous spots.
The trails are very well marked and very well groomed.
The mountain restaurant is too crowded; there aren't enough of them.

A ski area encompassing 160km of slopes, including Valloire, with restaurants and cafes at almost every lift. Incredible views.

A truly comprehensive resort with slopes for all levels in a stunning setting, offering a variety of activities such as microlight flights, paragliding, dog sledding, snake gliss, and more. Snacks, picnic tables, and restrooms are also readily available for a complete day of skiing.
160 kilometers of trails for all levels in a diverse area with different landscapes
Snow cover is often low when descending below 1800m

The ski area is exceptional! We can climb very high (2900m), so it's really wonderful! Don't hesitate to come to this resort!
Large ski area with lots of slopes! A real pleasure!
I found nothing
Philippe Galloy
A high-altitude resort, guaranteeing good snow cover even in milder winters. The 160km ski area is large enough to offer a variety of slopes without overcrowding and excessive infrastructure. A family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of nightlife options. :-) All types of shops are available. Entertainment is offered throughout the season. The resort is also appealing in summer with a range of activities. You can ski on multiple slopes to enjoy sunshine all day long. Lifts are rarely waiting, even in peak season. Lift passes are reasonably priced. A wide range of accommodation options is available.
High altitude, snow all winter, family atmosphere, human-scale resort, affordable prices
The off-season is still relatively quiet (apart from some initial activities at All Saints' Day, hopefully this will increase).
