Just returned from a Jan 24 ski trip. Had a reasonable week and made the best of it, but only 60% of ski area covered by snow cannon and there seemed a reluctance to use them even in cold temperatures. Piste signage is beyond poor, and no toilet facilities other than in cafes. Vialattea Ski app is useful to a point but information not clear. When additional runs open there is no way of telling which ones. Lift system so so old and lacks the capacity required in some areas. Sauze d’oulx has great potential but feels way behind by other resorts. Investment required. Great value food on the slope side bars and cafes.
Nice town with plenty of bars and restaurants
Oldest lift system I have ever seen - no investment evident.

Lift system is old and slow, many lfts and piste closed for no reason, several of these opened at weekend only. If you are paying full price for a lift pass then they should open the full area, apparently it's done by the lift operators to save cash. Only 36 out of 54 runs were open in early march. The link to Sestriere is often closed due to winds so you are stuck in a limited area at Suaze, for this reason I will not be returning.
Good town with nice selection of bars.
Lift system built by Noah.

Mainly an intermediate place for those who like reds, blues are few and far between and those that are there are icy and narrow -so you may be better off on a red ! If you're learning go Sestriere or somewhere else Sauze Doux is not for you. Moving around on blues isn't possible. Lots of red runs so that's pretty good but directions leave something to be desired-runs mostly don't have numbers, or arrows for when direction of travel is unclear. Needs to learn from pretty much every other place in Europe.
Loads of reds
Blues are mainly roads or shuttle runs-only 4 proper ones

We stopped in sauze Do charming little town with good apres and restaurants. We came in middle of January during a dry spell in Europe so it was very icy so cant get ot a full review.. would we come back? YES just in February
BIG ski area with lots of different slopes for different skill levels
The runs on sauze side are not very well labelled and its easy to get lost.

A resort that could be great but poor management of the resort meant no links were open to the full ski area but people had to pay the full price for lift passes despite not being able to move around. Poor management and unfortunately a rip off. Problem was highlighted by many people but no motive taken by the resort. They have shot themselves in the foot.
Easy to get to.
Links to other areas were not open until after Christmas

Smaller slopes but lots of them. Very family friendly area and town and friendly restaurants. Great Italian food at reasonable cost. Just been in mid Feb and we had lovely sunny days and one day of light snow which didn't register on online snow reports. Admittedly the fresh powder was very brief. Mostly man-made this year but not bad at all on most slopes. Nice fun ski schools for my kids. Via Lattea has a huge connection of slopes and we typically cover Sauze and Sestriere easily. Lots of choices of high (more exposed) and low (more sheltered, tree-lined) slopes to choose from and the only downsides are the Italian side of the Alps has lower snow falls and Sauze has no big wide easy blue for beginners so have to negotiate some tricky sections.
Big ski area, great food, great value
Low on snow, can be warm

Currently here in early February and the snow is dreadful, the mountain was closed for two days due to wind and the slopes are 90% ice (some a fetching glacial blue). Of course, snow sports are dependent on the environment and you take the rough with the smooth, but this is probably the worst conditions I’ve experienced in 20 years for this time of the year.
Lots of runs

Being an expert level skier with family, it works great for all. Really fast runs, it's a huge place with hundreds of lifts (via lattea) i can ski w my kids (under 10) and we all have fun
