Perfect skiing area in the middle of Austria's largest skiing resort!
Small village with great nighlife - but a great resort for families as well.
We stayed in the Hotel Alpenhof www.alpenhof.info - nearby the pistes.
I went in February 2007 and the hotel was just 200 metres from the eight seater lift. Heaven! Like many resorts around the world, there was not much snow and the lower parts of all runs were less than exciting. But higher up...oo lah lah! It was fabulous. The lift infra structure must be amongst the best there is with very few queues and access to other equally exciting linked areas was a doddle. There are literally hundreds of kilometers of linked slopes including Wagrain (yummy), Sauchensee (brilliant), Flachauwinkle (super) and others. Our hotel was B&B so we had to go into the village to eat. This is not a large place but there were plenty of places to dine with the steak at the 'Cobblers House' being my favourite. It is not a noisy or a loud resort and could fairly be described as quiet. Some of the drinking spots at the bottom of the slopes are very much louder and cater more for the hardened apre skier.
If you love skiing, a quiet drink and a meal then bed, this is the place.
