Zell am See – Schmittenhöhe is located in the SalzburgerLand region of Austria and rises directly above the lakeside town of Zell am See. The resort combines alpine terrain with scenic views over Lake Zell and the surrounding Hohe Tauern mountains. Winter conditions are supported by extensive snowmaking, helping to maintain reliable coverage throughout the main season. The SKI RESORT AREA extends across 81 hectares and includes 41 marked pistes served by 28 lifts. The ski area offers approximately 77 km of groomed pistes, with terrain distributed across beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert levels. Nearly half of the runs are suited to intermediate skiers, while steeper sections provide added challenge for confident riders. With a base at 760 m and a summit reaching 2,000 m, the resort delivers a vertical drop of around 1,240 m. The longest continuous descent measures roughly 6 km. Zell am See – Schmittenhöhe is well suited to families and mixed-ability groups. Clearly organised learning areas, ski schools, and modern lift systems support beginners, while experienced skiers benefit from varied terrain and panoramic viewpoints. The close connection between the slopes and the town centre adds to the resort’s appeal, creating a balanced winter destination that combines quality skiing with lakeside charm.
