The region is not only rangy and snow reliable but also close. That is why many Northern Germans or Dutch prefer the Sauerland to Bavaria. The ski areas in the Sauerland offer well-prepared pistes and numerous lifts from Brilon over Lennestadt to Sundern, Winterberg and Willingen take the visitors to the pistes on an altitude of up to 843 m. Tobogganists also favour the slopes in the Sauerland. The Sauerland is famous for it’s cross-country ski runs and the huge and spacious net that spans the whole region. The cross-country ski runs are not only suitable for professionals but for beginners as well.
