Silvapark Galt&uuml;r, the high-alpine ski area at the upper end of the Paznauntal in Tyrol, offers a varied winter sports experience in a peaceful mountain setting. The ski area ranges from 1,600 m to 2,465 m in altitude, with a vertical drop of 660 m and a maximum run length of 3 km.
Families are especially well catered for at Siggi&rsquo;s Bambiniland &ndash; a thoughtfully designed children&rsquo;s area featuring magic carpets, gentle nursery slopes and playful learning zones. The compact layout, short walking distances and minimal lift queues make Galt&uuml;r an ideal choice for relaxed ski days with younger children. Cross-country skiers can enjoy over 80 km of classic and skating trails, weaving through the valley and surrounding forests.
What sets Silvapark Galt&uuml;r apart is its unique concept of six themed sectors, each tailored to different types of skiers and snowboarders &ndash; from freeriders to ski tourers. Snow reliability is bolstered by the high altitude and snowmaking across 30 acres. Night skiing is available on 2.2 km of floodlit piste, and a snowpark adds to the variety. Galt&uuml;r offers a quieter, more authentic alpine alternative to its larger neighbours, with well-planned infrastructure and diverse terrain.

Galt&uuml;r is best reached via Innsbruck Airport (INN), around 1 hour and 45 minutes away. Zurich (ZRH) and Munich (MUC) are also viable options, each approximately 3 to 3.5 hours by road. From the airport, visitors can travel comfortably into the Paznauntal by hire car or organised transfer. The resort is accessed via the well-maintained B188 road, which is regularly cleared in winter.
Rail travellers should head to Landeck-Zams station, where direct bus connections run to Galt&uuml;r. Once in resort, a free ski bus service links accommodation with the lift stations and neighbouring villages including Ischgl, Kappl and See. Parking is available close to the lifts, and many lodgings offer ski-in/ski-out access or their own shuttle services.

Accommodation in Galt&uuml;r ranges from traditional Tyrolean guesthouses and modern holiday apartments to exclusive chalets with panoramic mountain views. Experienced skiers will find rewarding challenges in the Race Area sector and on the steeper terrain around the Ballunspitzbahn. These runs feature natural elements such as moguls and wooded sections, and are especially enjoyable after fresh snowfall.
Freestyle riders can explore the Silvapark Snowpark, which is divided into two zones catering to different ability levels. While no rails or jumps are currently listed, the park includes natural features and flow lines designed for progression and creativity.
Cross-country skiers benefit from an 80 km network of trails stretching through the Paznauntal and surrounding forests. Routes are prepared for both classic and skating styles, with a mix of flat sections and more athletic variants. Access is available directly from the village.

After fresh snowfall, the first ride up on the Ballunspitzbahn is well worth it. The upper bowl areas retain snow particularly well, and the zones between marked pistes often offer untouched lines &ndash; perfect for early risers.
For a quieter run, head to the piste to the right of the Kopssee drag lift. This slope is rarely busy, has a gentle gradient, and is ideal for wide carving turns in the morning sun.
Night skiing on the floodlit piste at Alpkogel is a special experience. The 2.2 km run transforms into a glowing ribbon after dark &ndash; perfect for squeezing in a few extra laps after sunset.

Cross-country skiers should try the loop near Wirl. The trail winds through snowy meadows and forest, with both classic and skating tracks. Early mornings offer the calmest atmosphere and clearest views.
For a scenic break, head to the hut above the Ballunspitzbahn. It serves hearty Tyrolean fare and offers panoramic views of the Silvretta &ndash; ideal for refuelling before your next descent.
Confident skiers should make use of the Race Area. The steeper pistes with timing features are a great way to test your technique &ndash; especially fun when the snow is firm and fast.
Freeriders will enjoy the varied terrain in the Action Park, accessed via the Birkhahnbahn. Conditions vary with snowfall, but the natural features make it a great spot for creative line choices.
For a memorable final run, take the long descent from the Ballunspitzbahn to the valley via Abfahrt 12. The terrain changes throughout and the wide views make it a perfect way to end the day.
Apr&egrave;s-ski is best enjoyed at the Weiberhimml H&uuml;tte near the base station. With its relaxed vibe, good food and sunny terrace, it&rsquo;s the ideal place to wind down after a day on the slopes.
