For me, never again. Atmosphere: German disco and sausage with fries. Slopes: concrete, slippery, intersections of blue and red slopes, no safety nets. Simply dangerous. Late December, very little snow.

  • Easy access, large selection of accommodation,
  • Concrete, slippery, poorly prepared trails

Great ski resort, suitable for families, friends and couples alike.

  • Spacious and the maple tree is perfect for having room for the family.
  • No downhill run

I definitely recommend it to families. A wide selection of trails for both beginners and advanced skiers. The trails are superbly prepared, and the line holds 150 people. A must-see.

  • A wonderful resort for the whole family.
  • Lots of schools on blue slopes.

The slopes were excellently groomed for the current conditions (early February). Taking the ski bus to the Möslbahn lift saves long waiting times, but you are bound by time constraints and unfortunately there's nothing to do at the Mösl valley station.

  • Take the ski bus to the Möslbahn cable car.
  • Sometimes very crowded

Had a lovely week here at the start of January. A lovely village, very charming and a variety of eating out options. The lift system is generally modern and fast. The cable car up to the resort takes a lot of people per cabin, and is quick, so you’re not waiting long. The Ahorn area is small, with shorter runs. It is a mellow area, and good for starting with if with beginners. It doesn’t have much to entertain for too long, though. The Penken area is at the top of the main cable car up from the village, and opens up the rest of the areas. The blues up here tend to be quite narrow and get busy and mounded up quite quickly. The reds are generally fairly mellow for reds. In the next valley, at the top of the Horbergbahn lift there are a reasonable mix of nice blues and reds, plus a terrain park. From this valley, you can take the 150erTux lift, which allows you to access the area at the top of the Rastkogelbahn lift. This area is lovely, with wide and mellow blues and reds. Getting back to Penken from here either involves doing the reds down the side of 150erTux, which are quite steep, or downloading on the lift, then back up via the chairlifts in this valley (a few options). You can access the Egglam area via buses or continuing on over from the Rastkogel area. There are some moderate blues and reds here. The bus to the Hintertux glacier takes around 45 minutes. There is a nice mix of blues and reds over there, but it was considerably colder (as expected). There is an excellent bus network connecting the areas along the valley floor.

  • A charming resort with modern lift infrastructure
  • Some narrow blue runs, potentially difficult for young and/or very inexperienced skiers

I went skiing for the first time last year and went to Mayrhofen. I enjoyed it so much that I went to France 6 weeks later and then back to Mayrhofen again at the end of the season. It is such a beautiful village - and so is the Ziller valley. The gondola up to the Penken was fast and I never had to wait too long and I was there just after Christmas. The runs are all well groomed and there is a nice bit of variety - tree lined runs and more open wide ones. Every hut that I pulled into was so cosy and served delicious food. It was such a peaceful and friendly place. My only regret was getting lessons which were a waste imo - too much talking and hanging around and long lunch breaks. I did more runs from 8.30 - 10.00 before the lesson started on my own than I did all day in the group. If I was starting again I would just get a 1-1 lesson. The night life is very good too - you have the big apres scene as well as the quieter more intimate places for food and drink. The town has a large Spar supermarket as well as many other shops. There is also a public pool and spa if you are not in a hotel with these facilities. There is an ice rink too. I am looking forward to going back in December and I have a second holiday booked for February too. I am looking forward to exploring the other resorts in the valley this time as they are part of the Zillertal Super Ski Pass. Go - you won't regret it

  • Modern lifts - great mountain hut - so much variety
  • None for me

Unfriendly and sometimes rude staff. Staff give false information, e.g., you can take the elevator back until 4 pm, and then fail to help resolve the problem when the elevator is no longer accessible. No phone call was made to the loft station.

  • Bad food. It reeks of deep fryer and cheap oil everywhere. Often self-service. Expensive.
  • No downhill run.

A great resort with a wide variety of slopes, plenty of restaurants on the slopes and a great snowpark

  • Variety of areas, easy access via shuttle buses, very good variety of slopes
  • It can sometimes take a while to get to another area during the day.

Well worth a visit to mayrhofen that place has everything. It’s so good I’m going back.

  • Nightlife, slopes, terrain park activities on the mountain.
  • Gondola to the resort.
