The Gigijoch runs were particularly crowded at the end of February 2025. I wonder how children's ski groups managed to slip through the numerous very fast skiers, three-quarters of whom were Dutch at the time. My son was knocked off his ski at the Gigijoch, thankfully harmlessly, although the skier didn't even stop. I was more seriously knocked off my ski higher up in the black run. The person involved and their companion(s) stopped but didn't identify themselves. Without the help of an uninvolved German-speaking guardian angel, I wouldn't have been able to get my bindings into place in that steeper section. I had a strain in my left side but was still able to ski down to the Gigijoch mid-station on my own. The competent and commendable doctor in Sölden immediately forbade me from skiing any further, which was indeed no longer possible, as I could stand and walk quite well, but could barely get up from a horizontal position.
Guaranteed snow, large, fine glacier slopes
Overcrowded. Waiting times. Narrow valley runs.

Large ski area with glacier access. Unfortunately, it's sometimes very crowded, and at some bottlenecks, both the slopes and the lifts are poorly planned/implemented. In the afternoons, the slopes are sometimes in very poor condition. The valley run at Gigijoch is unfortunately completely overcrowded and too narrow for the number of skiers.
Large area with glaciers
Partly very crowded and poorly planned/implemented in some places.

A very nice ski resort with everything you need. Everyone will find their perfect slope here.
Wide slopes on the glacier
As a family, none

Absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this ski resort. Perfect for young and old, beginners and experts alike – truly wonderful.

Overall, a beautiful, very large ski area with long and varied slopes.
Many slopes, high altitude, guaranteed snow.
Sometimes there are waiting times at the elevator

A good ski resort for beginners and experts. ...
Large ski area. Snowshoes needed, as there are two glaciers.
High price level

We've been a large group since December 7th, and we'll probably do it again next season.
Large selection of routes
Expensive passes and accommodations

I've been skiing in Sölden quite often over the past 20 years. Unfortunately, the high prices (almost €80 for a day pass), the slopes that are sometimes very poorly groomed or not groomed at all after snowfall, and the outdated lifts simply don't add up. Ski buses are incredibly overcrowded, especially now that there's a charge for parking at the lift stations. Skiing has become a luxury, and in Sölden, it's reached a new low. I'll never ski here again. Every smaller ski resort makes a much better effort for its guests than this one.
I can't think of anything that compares to many other ski resorts in Austria.
Expensive, rip-offs at every turn, some outdated ski lifts charged at exorbitant prices

Lots of people, expensive, and unmaintained trails. In my opinion, capacity is average, and the chairs and gondolas are showing their age.
The slopes are hopelessly groomed, there are bumps by 10 a.m., and you can forget about corduroy. There are tons of slopes, but there are more people waiting in lines than skiing. There are tons of people; we've never waited in lines as long as here. Expensive.

Overall, the resort was very well organized; we didn't leave the hotel garage by car for the entire week. There was a dense network of stops, frequent ski buses, and new slopes opened daily, so it's clear that preparations for the season are in full swing. The slopes were varied; we were lucky enough to ski down to the valley in the first half of December.
Frequent ski buses, many open slopes, good organization, no queues
The valley was quite narrow, so the lower routes quickly became dark in December.
