By car, the usual route leads via Spittal an der Drau, Obervellach and Flattach. The official Jugendhotel Eissee is located in the mountain area and is especially relevant for groups and ski training stays, while most leisure guests stay in the valley and reach the slopes via the Gletscher Express. The terrain at M&ouml;lltaler Gletscher is high, open and naturally sporty. Access starts with the Gletscher Express, which brings skiers from the valley into the upper mountain area, where the main pistes spread around Eissee and towards Schareck.
Beginners and families should focus on the easier blue sections and use the ski schools and rental services. This is not a classic beginner resort, but careful skiers can still enjoy the mountain by staying on gentler marked pistes.
Intermediate and advanced skiers get the strongest offer. The red pistes suit carving, linked descents and confident skiing on broad, high-altitude slopes.
Expert skiers can look to the black pistes and steeper upper-mountain sections. With a vertical drop of 1,922 m, the ski area feels serious, especially when visibility or wind changes through the day.
Freestyle skiers and snowboarders can add variety in the official Snowpark, which includes four rails. It is a useful way to change the rhythm of a day otherwise focused on piste skiing.

Start with an early ride on the Gletscher Express. The first part of the day usually gives the best chance of firm, freshly prepared pistes and quieter skiing.

m&ouml;lliBAR is the easiest official spot for a relaxed drink after skiing. It keeps things simple and convenient rather than turning the end of the day into a long transfer.
If you ski fast, do your main red and black piste laps before lunch. Conditions on a glacier can change quickly, so the morning is often the best window.
Try the Snowpark once you have checked the snow speed and visibility. It is a good change of rhythm, but it is better enjoyed after a few warm-up laps.
After fresh snow, stay on open and secured pistes unless you have the right equipment and knowledge for off-piste terrain. The high-alpine setting deserves respect.
